Poolnoodle, From the photos, yours is definately L-Jet. There is 2 versions of L-Jet, and yours appears to be the earlier version, as you do have the cold-start injector (mounted on the drivers side above the rocker cover. You can see the blue connector and the fuel line in the second photo). Try ch...

I think you'll find there is no 7th injector on the L-Jet if it's the same as my '85 323i. As previously mentioned, I'd look at the air slide valve (water controlled valve) under the inlet manifold. It has 2 coolant pipes and 2 air piped attached to it. It is meant to open when cold, and close when ...

Re: Wob Wob Wob Noise
Sometimes the actual tyres can make noises, so to rule this out, swap the wheels around and see if the noise changes/moves...won't cost anything either!

Re: Sheared bolt on thermostat housing
You could try using a hacksaw to cut a slot in the end of the broken bolt and then turn it out with a screwdriver perhaps?

Re: 323i idle reduction
Here you go...it's no. 5 you're after, and your adjusting no.19. This will reduce/increase idle...but if it continues to be whacky, you will need to replace the air slide valve as mentioned in a n earlier post.

Re: 323i idle reduction
You can adjust the idle from the manifold side of the engine (drivers side on RHD) via the bypass valve...it's the long cylinder attached to the inlet manifold where the vacuum hoses go (for FPR and retard/advance signals). Will try and find a picture for you...hard to describe!

Re: Bmw e30 convertible doors with over spray
Try a clay bar on the doors...they will usually remove any contaminates from paintwork, and you can DIY.

Re:
How did it go after you refitted it? If it's closing FULLY when hot, it should be ok...don't forget to re-adjust the idle speed screw.
If it's still idling too high, check the TPS is adjusted correctly, and then maybe look for any air-leaks...

Re: 323i choke
There is an idle speed adjustment on the drivers side of the inlet manifold...look for a barrell shaped unit facing the firewall with a few vacuum hoses of it...someone may have adjusted this to compensate for the faulty air-slide valve. Of course, you will need to re-adjust after replacing the valve!

Hi, Nice score with the Baur! I have a 85 323i Baur in Australia, and had the same problem. It will most likely be the air-slide valve...it should be fully shut when the coolant is hot (i.e. engine up to temp). Only way I know to test it is to remove and place in hot water to see if it shuts or not!...
