mtech 2 kit on pre facelift convertible
Hi Everyone. I haven't been here for quite some time as I purchased a mtek 2 bodykit to be fitted to my pre facelift convertible. That was about 3 -4 years ago :-( My mechanic has now just realised that the seals I have, may of come off a hardtop model, therefore he is having problems with a gap at ...

Re:
You do know that the brake light indicator will come on whenever you start up the car? This is because it's the only function on the check control panel that needs human intervention (ie pressing the brake pedal) to prove the circuit. I usually turn on the ignition and dab the brakes immediately. T...

Brianmoooore. As per usual, you are SPOT ON. I've done exactly what you said and Hey presto...Everything is working again. I can see on the green and white wire, where the shorting has occured...Now back to the mechanic for an explanation. The wire seems to be caught under the 10mm brass screw holdi...

MrLee.
This would make sense as I have recently had the gear linkage worked on. (I was having problems selecting reverse).
Do you think it is possible that the mechanic may have caught the wire somehow?

Re:
I've removed the rubber grommet from under the horseshoe and the o/s/r shock absorber moves a lot more that the n/s/r.
Does that indicate a faulty top mount? as the taping of the horseshoe catch didn't make a great deal of difference.

What I have noticed, is on replacing the fuse, I turned the key to the ignition without starting the car. There is smoke coming out from the fuse box and a burning wire smell.

Re:
I must admit. The rattle seems a lot less when the roof is off. It still rattles but not as noisy.
Also it does rattle almost constantly and not just when going over bumps. I'll try the tape thing and see how it goes, but my mechanic said he thinks its the top mounts on the shocks.

Re: instrument probs.
The 7.5 amp fuse in holder no10 is indeed blown and when replaced, blows straight away. This has only just started to happen. Where do I look first for the fault? The 30 amp fuse in holder no20 is still intact, but the blower still does not work. I've already replaced the fan speed resistor once, an...

I've just been driving along enjoying the sun when suddenly i've lost my rev counter, fuel gauge, temp gauge, service lights and fan blower. The speedo still works and all the other electrics seem fine.

Re: Rattle from rear of cabby
Its a manual roof.
Someone had a look at it and said it may be a worn shock absorber top...or something like that.
Does that sound right?

Rattle from rear of cabby
My cabby rattles along when i'm driving.
It seems to be coming from the rear driver side (rhd).
Anyone know what it could be?

Same thing I thought.
Only problem is that it has been done already, so i'm wondering if to take it to a welders and see if they can remove the liquid metal and re-do it with a tig weld.

Re: Cracked alloy wheel
Cheers MrLee30.
The wheel has already been filled with liquid metal, and its in a bit of a blob.
How do I file it down as to put a tyre on the wheel? I'll only be using it as a spare.

Cracked alloy wheel
One of my alloys has a crack on the inner rim. I was told that I can put some liquid metal on it and file/sand it down to stop the tyre losing air. Is this a recommended method or is there any other way to repair the wheel. Its an azev, and I'm having difficulty in finding a replacement. Any suggest...

Re: Heater not working
Try a new resistor first and foremost. Easy enough to replace and fairly cheap too. Its probably located near the bulkhead, access via passenger side footwell. Failing that, possibly a new switch, although you can test the switch by removing it and using a multimeter across all the pins to see if yo...

If it's not going up/down properly and you can hear the motor running when you switch the car on (get a friend to help), I've used some penetrating fluid and given the aerial a helping hand to go up and down and that's solved the issue. If that doesn't work, remove the aerial and open it up (screws...
