Enthusiastic 318i Speedo

Hey everyone my 318i’s Speedo likes to think it’s going much faster then it should be. Even at 30mph it reads 5ish mph more - the rest is about 10mph out from 40 onwards. I don’t remember it always doing this, a while back I sold the car then bought it back a year later and it had mismatched tyres o...

Re: E10 petrol (does it rot you fuel lines)

Been using it since day 1 in the touring, it’s the Mrs’s daily driver and I can’t be bothered explain why she should use the more expensive petrol without giving myself a headache. I don’t drive it enough to notice these days but being a 318i auto it was never good on fuel, usually around 25-30mpg. ...

Re: Aftermarket camshafts

Looks more like a lubrication failure, very dry. It would turn nicely when installed with a little oil but soon as it came under load it would burn out. It does look like it had run hot, Although I think the heat generated by the cam rubbing against the bearing is why it looks so dry. There wasn’t ...

Aftermarket camshafts

Has anyone had issues with aftermarket cams from eBay and the like? I used one previously with no issues but today it screwed me big time - looks like there is extra material which cause it to rub against the bearing block when it warmed up a bit. It melted the locating tab off the pulley and caused...

I was looking change those bolts at well and at nearly £30 each I decided against it as it wasn't necessary to actually change them 8O

Assorted nuts and bolts are a bit pricey but I find a lot leaves me thinking it's not too bad to go straight to the dealer.

I bought an easybleed couple of years back, so good for working on your own. Just screw into reservoir, connect to tyre, open nipple until bled. Takes like 10 seconds a corner.

Don't worry about it, just make sure to check the car over thoroughly before you hand any cash over to ensure it's been advertised correctly. Rust is the biggest issue with these so might be worth educating yourself on what to look out for when you go to collect http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/in...

The ECU was changed from an auto to a Manual one. I don't think the engine was ran after the swap until the manual ECU was fitted.
