One of my friends has just spent 20k on a vauxhall motor thats just a tall motor money is not an issue if his ebay cooler was crap he would change it its that simple ! Re: advised clutch for m52 conversion
Had an LUK in my Audi S4 holding 500ft lb torque and that's a standard Audi part most paddle clutches arn't rated to that ! I used to sell LUK every day never had a problem with one Was it an LUK clutch designed for a 170hp M20 engine in your Audi? :) No but it wasn't designed for 500ftlb neither !

An after market system with x2 1.77" exhausts is the same as having one 2.5" exhaust

Re: Head surface finish once skimmed ?
The finish shouldn't be mirror. The gasket needs a keyed finish. The finish should me like a mirror if your using an MLS gasket ! Even if your not the finish should look like a record with oil colours if you get my grasp ? Some machine shops are still using grinding stones for cast iron heads on al...

Re: M50 or M52 turbo setup info
You said they are no good for boost like you said you would not buy mega squirt I simply proved you wrong ! Never at any point did I say the aluminium block was better and maximum psi bmw is only just over a thousand hp isn't it ? I don't dispute any of the facts you added later on only what you sai...

Re: M50 or M52 turbo setup info
m54b30 801whp/881wnm World record!!! On Germanboost with the aluminium block and 517whp on stock motor you need to get in touch and tell him what he's done wrong ! He might be in the market for a 15k cosworth ecu and a garret intercooler for a grand ! By the way a 900hp garret cooler is just over £5...

Kieron, I don't know what "sending someone on a bum steers" means, but I am not exactly giving out misleading information which is what I assume you mean? RE VEMs, yes, there is better standalone out there for the money, however, for £720 plug and play with a base map installed, you will struggle t...

Re: M50 or M52 turbo setup info
I know nothing about turbo's but what I do know is just by changing a head gasket on a M52 you can pull the threads out of the block so wouldn't have thought it would like 500/600 bhp either. Modern trends is leaning towards using a iron M50 block for a lot of bigger bhp engine builds. Just my pene...

Re: M50 or M52 turbo setup info
If the ECU can control VANOS, it makes sense to use it. However if you are after simplicity, NV will be fine. Not sure if MS can handle VANOS control. Not massively clued up on Megasquirt, but would imagine it has an output for a boost controller like VEMS? I would go for that myself. Personally I ...

Re: M50 or M52 turbo setup info
The only down side of the m52 is the head studs , I am going for 600hp on my m52 so don't worry about itjohnmaccow wrote:How much boost is safe on an m52?
I was wondering as if it was low enough would 300bhp be possible?
Obviously still a fair amount for an e30 and saves going sr20det

Re: M52 TURBO CLUTCH ??????????????????
I'm running a SPEC stage 3+ on my M50 turbo and it's never let me down, go to their site and it'll tell you which clutch will be best suited to you ftlb of torque.. Not keen on spec i had to do some work on a Golf VR6 turbo recently and on removal of the spec clutch all the springs were hanging out...

Re: M50 or M52 turbo setup info
M50 for turbo. M52's ali blocks don't like boost. As far as internals go, you won't need to change anything up to 500hp. Just install a thicker gasket. The older method was to use a MLS, but this has proved unreliable (see Craig's thread in the turbo section). The current popular method is to use a...

Also this is a superflow dyno that is calibrated every month and is bang on the money ,this can not be compared with a dynojet which in this cars case would be showing about 270+hp

Re: Turbo M50/52
Instead of thinking what standalone you like why not speak to your tuner and see what he recommends seeing he will be doing the work .

Re: management... Again
Don't buy VEMS or MEGASQUIRT for your money you can buy adaptronic off EFI PARTS RUNCORN its the best standalone you can buy for your money !
Do some research on efi parts best stand alone tuner about !
VEMS is based on megasquirt
