i may be wrong but i have a pretty fair theory on why very few people do big power 2.5's or even 2.7's part of it is bmw's own reliability. a 200k mile m20 is far from unknown and in fact many people would be disappointed if there bmw didnt make that sorta mileage without many issues - ask yourself ...

For £1000: -A 325i or 525e block. It doesn't matter a toss which you use. -Six 325i pistons - buy some used ones or a cheap short engine from JonB. -The standard 525e crank and rods. -A 325i head. Don't bother with gasflowing. -A decent cam kit. Piper are excellent, Schrick is similar but with a ...

A lot lot cheaper as well + straight fitment :D i only commented on 18" as u said 18" in the first post. make sure all the bushes are good, cos with 17's its gonna go thru them quicker anyw...

Re: What wheels for a 635 CSi (poll)

Got two wheels in mind - both 18", both keeping to the bbs philosophy. First - the BBS Split rims off the 850 (This is a common swap) werent they 17" not 18" ? both available as 17 and 18" arent the 18" ones from an e39 tho not an 8 - and rare as rocking horse sh*t. oh an need spigot rings.

the problem with 0-60's etc is that they arent indicative of real world performance.

e30 325i is especially problematic as there are several diff ratios/gearbox options all of which wud affect the 0-60 time.

iirc the tech 1 sport wud just about get under the 7 sec mark btw

Argos from what you said this swap differs very much from UK models to US models It will be in the US because a) The US Eta is low compression (well, 9:1) b) You don't have any 731 head castings over there. You need to be talking to JonB here on the Zone to get some 731 heads crated over to the Sta...

Contary to popular belief u can fit a 325i head onto an Eta bottom end, use 325i inlet manifold,AFM and ECU. The peron who did this and has it running calculated the compression ratio to around 9.5:1 iirc. If all this is true then u would be a fool to use a 320 head! simon is correct. i believe and...
