Re: Cleaning rust off parts
Yeah its good for cleaning certain metals and just eats others. I've used it on fd's, flywheels and gear sets.
However, due to it eating a carb I prefer bilt-hamber http://www.bilthamber.com/deoxc.html myself.
More expensive but works very well

Re: A few buffty questions
Looking at your pic I would go for fk1000p for the alloys, you could use that instead of the carlack68 but you would be better using a paint cleaner before the fk1000p just to get the best prep for the wax.

Re: any tips on paintwork?
carlack 68.
its a chemical cleaner as well as a sealant and 1 layer should see at least 3 months.
i would do 1 layer one week then follow with another layer a week later to make sure all bits covered then use a decent shampoo to keep it clean.

Re: A few buffty questions
Glass Polish And Glass Cleaner are different things. Use the Polish for a "deep" clean, just not too much of it because the more you use the more dust you create. Nice and light and follow with an MF (I use the cheap screwfix ones). For weekly/daily use, use a glass cleaner, I am using Espuma Crysta...

If you get the chance a chat with the autoglym or autosmart rep and get their apc (cleanall for autoglym and g101 for autosmart) and dilution ratio 30:1 in a free bottle they will give you. Use with a stiff sponge (the rep will sell you one of those as well) and that will lift the grime. If its real...

Its not the self tappers, its the metal clips for the grille (clamp 51 13 1872146) and a few of the plastic trim clips etc for the interior.
For self tappers its cheaper to go to b&q and get s/s packs.
Looking at bmminiparts and its cheaper than dealer for what i want

My car is old (arnt they all) and needs a fair few clips and screws replacing, some due to them being so rusty as to be beyond saving and some are missing. Best Upgrades (Mods) For A Tourer (318)
Right, got round to actually doing something to the tourer, replaced the seats with ones without holes/rips in them, and fingers crossed should have it insured this month. So what upgrades/mods should I be looking at doing? Its a dog carrier not an daily driver/track car, but I do like my cars to go...

Idea For Sub In Tourer
So I have a plan for a sub in the tourer. Spare wheel well. Remove spare wheel (keep in shed, use tyre foam if need be) and take a grp mould from the wheel well. Build this up so its nice and thick, flat mdf bonded (with grp) but with holes cut for the sub and vent(s) and then glue on some black (gr...
