I know you said you were 100% about the timing marks, but i remember getting a new tensioner from GSF and the circumfurence of it was larger than the one on it previously, so when i lined up the timing for the cam and crank it appeared to be all in line, but once i tightened the tensioner and turned...

Re:
hmm now that I think of it valve stem seals have not been changed on this head, if they are knackered would oil drip into the combustion chamber, but surly that would affect compression, or would it just get burnt and straight out the exhause manifold.

Gearbox whine/rattle
The usual getreg gearbox noise, when I press the clutch it goes away. So I had the gearbox open to change the clutch and changed the release bearing, just because it comes with the kit. I was initially lead to beleieve that the rattle would be from a layshaft bearing, so I didn't think it would make...

Re: Not starting
yep the fuel flow is the bottom straight into the injector rail, and the other is return pipe is the one with the regulator on it. its very strange, as it sounds like it wants to start. checked all the plug leads to and they are all number up correctly. could the crankcase sensor be at fault possibly

Defenatly not the manifold gasket, noise just seems closer to the top of the head. What would it sound like if there was something up with the bottom end, would it be louder more kno...

thanks for that i will keep an eye on it for a few weeks, gona give it a oil change on the weekend. If there is water going in the sump, the oil level should be higher by the week end to.
