Re: m20 wont start

when you checked for a spark, was there fuel on the spark plug or were they bone dry? just had my fuel pump go @ 143k miles. caused the problem you mentioned, and before it completely died, it used to not fire when warm. (ie. it wouldnt fire up 1st key turn, but it would 2nd or 3rd key turn), and ne...

hummm.....took it all apart, put it all back together again, and its all ok again. the stereo was completely rewired before i got the car, so i guess it could have been the illumiate wire from the old stereo wires, who knows

Lights Problem - Short? 320i touring '91

I've got a bizarre problem with the lights! on the way back from the MOT, i saw the licence plate, rear lights red dots flash up on my overhead panel. i found the rh sidelight, rh rear light, no-plate lights, instrument cluster and lights all not working too. checked the manual and narrowed it down ...

Re: Overheating M20 :(

Re: 4x100 to 5x120 adaptor plate

conceptwheels.be do them, and so do H&R, both are 1pc adaptors. and can be from 15mm wide.
you could also get them knocked up at a machine shop. as the holes dont overlap for this pattern. they clear ok when you are drilling M12x1.5, its only when they are M14 drilled you can get problems.

Re: Re-drilled alloys; are they safe?

can be safe, just depends on many factors. like if the rear pad is solid (not have holes in) if there are any other holes round the wheel. if they are not being welded up completely. then the different stud patterns cannot clash. i've seen many a good safe job, some which look horrendous but actuall...

or they will help correct the offset of the 5x120 1/3 series or aftermarket options that are being put on.
but if low offset 5/6/7 series 5x120 wheels are planning to be put on you would be dead right....would be shocking, and have fitment probs :)

Re:

H&R do 20mm ones, they are not listed under BMW.
you need to look at the VW ones, ie. golf mk2. as VW 4 studs run the same centre bore and stud pattern as the E30.

the H&R part no for 20mm ones is 40275571 as far as i know.

conceptwheels.be (as mentioned above) also do 4x100 to 5x120

Badges

Quick ones for you people! 1) the rear badge (320i on mine) if i take it off, will it leave holes in the bodywork? or are they just stuck on, 2) my BMW badges are fading, i know they are stuck on, and leave 2 holes. but is there somewhere else other than a main BMW dealer where i can get replacement...

Re: Battery Drain Help asap please

how did u get the alternator re-earthed ?? thanks. Some versions of the E30 have the alternator mounted in rubber bushes, and these have a seperate earth lead for the alternator, hidden away underneath. Even alternators which are bolted metal to metal can still occasionally give problems, when corr...

Re: Charging - Again

turned out to be a bad earth, some reason the earth was shot the alternator. done some re-earthing and now getting 14.4v out the alternator, and 13.8v at the battery. (was 14.4v alternator, 12.7 @ battery before re-earthing) so problem solved
