Re: 316i Manual Conversion. Best Diff Ratio?

3.64 will do 2750 rpm at 70mph

as a rule of thumb drop 100rpm for every 0.1 ratio drop

I have a 3.46 and it does just over 2500, probably 2550rpm at 70.

To get down to 2500rpm at 80mph you would need a 3.25 but this would be too tall for a 318i

A good motorway diff is the 3.64

Re: 1988 E30 320i – Idle problem and ECU Code 1262

I also found this on the net a while back which i keep in case of idle problems: Idle or hard starting problems are most commonly caused by intake leaks and/or a sticky or defective Idle Control Valve (ICV). The only reliable method of locating intake leaks is to have a smoke test run on the intake ...

Re: 1988 E30 320i – Idle problem and ECU Code 1262

Just wondering if you have tried a compression test. I know someone who had the very same problem, low idle and stalling, it turned out his engine was simply well worn and new piston rings were needed.

Re: 4.10 or 3.73 lsd for 325i AUTO TRANNY??

Age: I'd pop in that long diff you have, perfect for motorway miles. if you need more grunt, you could always change down.

I've got a 2.65 fitted and only use 6th gear for stretches of the m-way. It gives quiet smooth and effortless cruising. Normal driving about I never go above 4th.

Re: Upgrading Throttle body on e30 325i

I agree with Barry, the throttle response is quite noticeable. Bizarrely I also got a couple of MPG extra from doing this. The engine also has a slightly more raspier note to it.

Facelift bumper bolts are the perfect size for a 4 arm engine stand using the holes where the gearbox bolts to.

Windscreen intensive and normal plumbing

Hi, does anyone have the plumbing drawings for the intensive and normal wash for the windscreen. there is not a drawing on REAL OEM. I guess that both pipes run up the bonnet side, through a T piece so there is a single output to the washer jet ? I need to order the T pieces but i've also seen pictu...

Thanks Dan I'll try that as it sounds a good idea.

The problem i have is i can easy bleed the system. Then upon closing the bleed valve a load of air bubbles are seen in the clear tube attached to the bleed valve. I wonder if my bleeed valve is dodgy?
