Because engine very contaminated with sludge I'm going to use cheap oil and flushing agent.. And yes will also change filter with final oil

Would running engine on idle for 5 mins be enough, or do I need to drive it. Also am I correct to think you don't think I should add any type of flushing agent as well?

The above is exactly what engineering place are doing, yes I could attempt to do it my self but feel I'd only destroy current dowel in process so better a professional touch I think anyway.. lastly, if I'm missing the obvious I apologise but when the dowel is fitted in new Camshaft the, timing belt ...

Thankyou, if I understand correctly you have said I can obtain a new dowel from BMW and put it into new Camshaft then everything will be same as old Camshaft yes?

With respect Brianmoooor you said... Do you mean you have a camshaft with the dowel stuck in the end of it, which isnt the same as ...you have one cam with a dowel in it. The word stuck infers it shouldnt be there, and I do not believe the dowel is stuck I believe its where it should be.. Anyway you...

Well I'm shocked no one could assist with above head question so have found out Heads matches up to block and then needs stuff done to actually work and.even then will lose something from all round performance so defo not the thing to do. on my head he nut & bolt came loose and fell out of rocker on...

Overheated then when put water in cooling system it disappeared bu couldn't see leak. Concluded must be going straight into engine which it was so thought HeadGasket

No that's not what I done... My reference to timing belt removed is saying that's what I intend to do if Cam mark is out, to get back in correct place. When I took Head off I cabled tied the timing belt to the cam timing belt pulls, and marked where was on the Head. No1 piston was TDC at start. So v...

No one set.timing, I just replaced in same place... Moved enough to push sparkplug gap closed... Valve stems I think are good thanks.

Hello people, well due to allowing someone else to work on my e30, I ended up finding they had sheared 2 exhaust manifold studs, hence why needed to take head off. OK cheers Matt, il center punch then use center drill then left handed drill bit using right handled drill when it arrives next week. Thanks all for your help much appreciated.

No threads spinning, when I got the right angled drill I'm good to go, altho going to practice on sheared wheel stud ( different Mota) And for the record it was a so called professional that sheared them. Itl be done at some point soon ish

Oh I bought Dormer A101 HSS ST Straight Shank Left Hand Jobber Drill Din 338 thinking would be good enough but I guess not and will look for what you have said.. Thankyou for advice.

I've got 2 SHEARED exhaust manifold studs on my e30. can anyone recommend a good value right angled drill as need to sort with Head staying n place.
