Look for the oil pressure switch.
It switches on the oil light when the oil pressure is low.
They often leak copiously between the crimp of the body and the plastic insulator.
It may have failed as well, hence the no warning light.

Sometimes they come out with a tug, after the axle nut retaining clip and the nut have been removed. If you have to hit the stub, screw the axle nut back in until it is almost flush with the end of the axle. However, if you tow with axle less rear hubs, the bearings will be destroyed. It is false economy to fit second hand leccy parts, imo. Do you have a dual pump pre facelift car? remove the fuel filter and see how badly discoloured the fuel is that pours out of the inlet/tank side. Gives you an idea as to how much junk is in the tank. Fit a new fuel filter. If it still won't st...

Noisy tappets could be: 1,needs valve adjust 2,Bad big end bearings 3, a generally knackered engine A sellers description could be to minimise big issues, and therefore big money. £16K for that black one? The scuttle panel is original and stamped. The windscreen has very recently been replaced by us which revealed some light corrosion, this has been treated and the scuttle painted. Hmmm. Problem with the Scuttle is by the time you can see "light corrosion" it's potentially b...

what about the timing chain issue at 100k miles? fact/fiction?? costs?? The timing chain is a duplex design. It is not an issue. The tensioner rails for the engine tend to need replacement at 100k miles. Be wary of post 100k mile cars with no maintenance records, as they are due for rod bearings. I...

I would ask what the post compression test numbers look like. I'd be concerned about a plug that is either oil or fuel fouled at low revs and load. The plug clears up when the cylinder makes heat and more sparks as the revs go up. dodgy injector leaking, or bad rings letting compression out and oil ...
