Re: Pre-shaped brake lines
Ok - I have all the kit for doing copper lines but everything on the car is steel I think, so wanted it to match. Luckily a lot of heat got the drivers side off. Got the passenger one cut out so will have a go in copper, and maybe paint it to hide it being copper?!

Pre-shaped brake lines
Folks,
I just rounded the brake fitting. Want to replace the hole line for good measure, luckily it's the short line on passenger front right by the master cylinder.
I want a pre-shaped hose to avoid the faffing about - anyone know where I can get one?!
Thanks
Jon

Re: Horse show gas struts and wrong parts
I have a set from a set and for love nor money can I compress them enough to get them fitted, they are about quarter of an inch too long but so strong that you can't compress them by hand. If there is some sort of tool to do this I'd love to know. Alternatively there is a place onlIne that can supp...

Well i have two cabriolets with the same issue... this is for the one I am selling for now, not the resto one... but if i can get a decent second pair, I might put these ones on the resto car and the cheaper ones on the seller...

Re: Horse show gas struts and wrong parts
Why didn't you get your ones restored and is your hood electric as I don't think I have any gas struts on my manual roof? I have gas struts on my manual roof. Good luck restoring mine, the end of the piston that attaches to whatever via a thin metal hoop are snapped so they are now -C shaped instea...

Re: Horse show gas struts and wrong parts
Its a manual roof, its the struts that hold up the horse shoe, when you pull the door handle release for the horse shoe, pull the catch underneath it should pop up on gas struts, but mine don't. I have tried having struts repaired before with varied effects, so wanted nice new ones for a change... e...

Eurgh! What an expensive day! Got what I (and the bloke at the dealer) thought were the lifters for the horse shoe on a the cab shipped in from Germany at £44.41 (OUCH). Got them and they are the ones from the frame of the hood not the horse shoe. Anything under £50 they cant return with out a £50 h...

Sounded like it was axle tramping in all gears @ tango touring!! Pretty cool beast. Did anyone see that odd red e36 compact that looked like it had Matchbox wheels on?!

Re: Santapod 1/4 mile time and speed
No problems! I have two cabs, one with a very long in the tooth and slow paced rebuild but this is the level of detail I am hoping for. White is a difficult colour, but when the car is so tidy, its a brilliant colour! Also slightly jealous of your number plate! (hence the second photo!!)

Re: Best cars to replace an E30?
An E36 compact is the closest in terms of how an E30 feels but they are getting a bit long in the tooth now with the newest being 12 years old and they are ugly. An E8x 1 series is a very chuckable car with a great chassis. I have to agree about the e36 compact... REALLY not a fan! :( The 1 series ...

For what its worth ( PLEASE DONT SHOOT ME ) the only car that puts a similar smile on my face is.... a Citreon C1. But thats because its small, weights about as much as a very light thing and wants to rev... despite being wrong wheel drive. It how ever can only really swallow one bike with the seats...

Re: gearboxes for M30 engines
What's wrong with a standard non-dogleg Getrag 265 or similar? Shouldn't cost anything like £700... The main issue is getting one - cant find one! Hence the looking into an m10. People mention clutch and flywheel, the engine has the m535i clutch and flywheel so it should be ok? Is the m10 box much ...

gearboxes for M30 engines
Folks,
My dogleg gearbox broke
What are my options for an M30?? I have heard mention of M10 gearboxes... will the M30 3.5 not just shred the M10 box?!
I refuse to pay £710 pounds for a new one from Fritz Bitz when the car cost me £150 only a few years back!!
Jon

@ Verde
Not interested in chaining them, just wondered what keys it should have had from new to see if i can get replicas made up so it has everything it should have always had, but there is no issue with the locks that would warrent changing them (as I believe its a pain in the a**e to do?)

Did they come with two keys and a master key? Anyone got any pics? J :)

HI all, I have a Getrag 265/5? Dogleg 5 speed manual on an M30 engine. The gearbox has been noisey all the while I have dragged it so now I have it out on the bench and trying to rebuild. I have got it almost all the way apart but I cant get the last bit of housing separated and we have tried quite ...
