Re: E30 325I AUTO BOX
E is for everyday driving and works like any other auto, it uses all the gears and goes in to overdrive/lockup for economy at just over 50mph (depending on what diff you have). You can use kick-down for overtaking or move the gear lever down to 3rd, or even 2nd. S is sport mode and as already descri...

Bodywork stickers Alpina style? (Needs to be .net not .co.uk) Nice pale silver/grey would work on standard colours.

The zone shop quotes 17% more airflow but no dimensions. If I get time tomorrow I''ll take off my bellows and measure mine but I'm not too well at the moment.

Had the bbt b on for nearly five years now. I did notice a difference at the beginning but I've since had a maf and ITG fitted and a complete r/r remap so it's now got lost amongst other mods. Mine's the car featured in in the 'Throttle Bodies' FAQ on the zones. I should mention that mine's a 2.7 co...

Re: leak in drivers footwell
This is very often the scuttle drain getting blocked and excess water overflowing behind the pedals and down into the footwell. The drain is under the bonnet on the driver's side bulkhead and looks like an 'elephants trunkk' pointing down. It's only made of rubber so pull it off and clean it out. Re...

Re: Scorpion exhaust
I think the noise of a whole Scorpion system would drive you mad for everyday driving, imo. I've compromised and have standard factory downpipes and centre box and a Scorpion Le Mans back box. That way the car's quiet inside and sounds great outside - a nice powerful low burble. The other thing is t...

This is confession time: I own a Civic as well as the Sport 2.7. The little Jap number is a great workhorse car quiet, smooth (it's an auto) and has never had anything go wrong. It poodles along on the motorway at above limit speeds and id thoroughly boring. A fast car it ain't.. I leave driving it ...

Re: Auto box not moving up a gear
Quickest way is to check the fluid (ATF). First it should be at the right level and second and perhaps most important, it should be a clear(sh) pink colour. If it's a muddy brown colour it's a sign of problems. Unless you're a well trained mechanic about the only thing you can do is change the filte...

Alpina had 16 inch wheels on MTech suspension (lowered 15mm) but they had modified shocks to complete their package. Mine's lowered 40mm with 16" wheels but I have Bilstein Sport shocks to control it all and it goes round corners on rails! (I've got an LSD as well). It will be safe if you go for the...

Re: 325i auto
Don't know what BMW's official figs were but I think for town driving it's about 2mpg less. Motorway cruising is almost identical to a manual. Mine's now a 2.7 and I get about 25-26mpg around the suburbs and 30+ on a longer journey. My best was 35.6 on a 1000+ mile tour. Hope this helps.

Re: Taking the rev limiter off. does anyone no how????
Yes, it certainly worked better. I used to go out on track days and would be working it at near max revs in 2nd and 3rd all the time without any problems (in Sport mode). The only problem was overheating of the geabox to the extent where I was just about to fit an extra cooler when ill-health forced...

Re: Taking the rev limiter off. does anyone no how????
My autobox cut-out quite often kicks in before the rev limiter if I cane it in first/second especially if it's not thoroughly warmed up. But it goes into limp home mode (third gear). Have to turn off ignition and restart and all is fine. Have made tentative enquiries about remapping the autobox ecu ...

Hi, From memory the inner wheel arches were very bad, but it started with an MoT fail on rot around front jacking points. The metal there was so soft it was like rubber. I took it into a bodyshop to have it looked at. They started to cut away the outer sills then moved on to the inner sills but when...

Re: HOW RARE IS MINE CAR???
Most 323is have gone to the great scrap yard in the sky so a good rust free one is very rare but would probably only of interest to a collector of some sort. They are not slow but BMW brought them out to try and match the original Golf GTi in the market but it didn't really cut it with its slower re...

Re: Auto Box and an odd loud rattle
You need to have the car on the level with the engine running and warmed up. Check the level with the yellow dipstick at the rear of the block. The fluid needs to be at the mid level and should be pink and translucent. If it's brown and muddy it could spell trouble. If it is you could try draining t...
