Yes, engine only.
I was offered a genuine ex works car, less engine & box, about 6 years ago. It needed full resto though and was £40k. It's off being restored now and as interest in e21's has grown, it'll be silly money by now.

Re: M3 road & track car
Been a busy few months working through a list of final jobs. Included synchronising ITB's and replacing any tired 'O' rings. I also replaced all of the engine sensors as am pretty sure most were original and well past their best. The coolant temperature sensor was also causing some poor running and ...

Haven't updated for a while but all is well once again. Some new parts and a used, but rust free rear panel from Big Bavarian. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/markbrown100/pbBMWe21/Jig3_zps42rcj7p1.jpg Thanks to Pacer Pete for hooking me up with the KWV2's http://i210.photobucket.com/albums...

Re:
Thought the same, tried and no difference. Just waiting on a call from KW's technical department. I see that it's an issue that has been had on 1 series, so they offer a conical spring as a solution in that instance. Another option might be that I have a set of custom springs made, by someone like F...

Re:
Yes, it's a bit of a balancing act (getting coilover clearance) between turret clearance and rim/tyre. The top mounts I have allow some adjustment but it's not quite enough. I've got access to a bare shell today though, so am going to have a look and see just how much more adjustment is required. I'...

Re: True coilovers (rears)
Yes, have Z3 plates to improve structural rigidity of turret. Have played around with the topmounts you can see in the pic, but spring still seems to foul. I was just hoping there might be more adjustment in the ones available from Gaz or BC? Alternatively, is there any way I could run a shorter spr...

True coilovers (rears)
Just swapped out H&R suspension kit for KW 3's and the rears are rubbing on the lowest part of the inside of the turret. The springs are 2.5" and were they 2.25's they would probably clear without any issue. I'm fitting a fuel cell, so I will lose the OE fuel filler neck, but what top mounts will af...

Re: M3 road & track car
My Mrs was a bit shaken and stiff the next day but no lasting injury. There's no personal injury claims being made though. Obviously I was gutted the accident happened but the guy had his wife and young kids in the car, so just wasn't any point getting punchy with him. In fact, I think it was my bei...

The guys insurance company have accepted full liability, so it'll be off to the bodyshop very soon. I just hope there are no nasty surprises, once we start stripping off the bumpers etc.

Re: M3 road & track car
Here are a few pics showing some of the most obvious damage. Things like the leading edge of the bonnet (where it has bent over slightly) are more obvious in the metal. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/markbrown100/pbBMWe21/IMG_1158_zps9p1w4lkr.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/ma...

Re: M3 road & track car
Yeah and they admitted liability, so should be ok. There's more damage than it first looked like but still repairable. I imagine it'll be quite some bill though and the whole car will need repainting.

Re: M3 road & track car
Had a bit of bad luck today. Took my Mrs to Bristol and as we exited the M5 I was rear ended by a family in a Ford people carrier. They hit me hard enough that I hit the car ahead of me, so damage front and rear. It actually doesn't appear to be too bad at first glance, but it's actually worse than ...

Re: M3 road & track car
I've always loved Compomotive TH on E30's and they're really strong, although not that light as a result. Best of all is the amount of clearance they give for brake upgrades. The Tarox 6 pot calipers I run are huge compared to the OE items but they fit with ease. I'm thinking of replacing the Ridgar...

Re: M3 road & track car
If I did change the colour I'd strip and soda blast the whole shell anyway. It's all at the day dreaming stage for now, as I've still got my e21 project to finish and the 02 could do with some love. I plan on having the period Bastos livery done soon though and am entering a few sprint events. I thi...

Re: M3 road & track car
Thanks. Decided to lose the aftermarket rear lights, so the hunt is on for some OE replacements that haven't been tinted with a spray can or are cracked etc. Have also decided to start saving for a full repaint. Ideally I would like to fit a non sunroof roof skin and have it painted white, but it'll...

Re: So here it is.... an E30 M3 for me!
Looks like a nice car and it's always good to know the full history. Personally I prefer the basic spec' with no sunroof and keep fit windows. Also good to see another M3 that's going to be used and not just tucked away in a heated garage somewhere. Anyway, look forward to hearing your plans for it....

Re: M3 road & track car

The final bits of rust were also dealt with and it's now totally solid throughout. I am still tempted to ...

Re: M3 road & track car
Hi Dave, I'd like to be able to give mine a thorough rebuild some day, although Avers Racing fixed the small bit of rust in the corner of the footwell, where all e30 seem to go. It's remarkably solid everywhere else. There is the odd stone chip, but they are being sorted after the New Year. The coil...

Re: M3 road & track car
They're 17 x 8's ET13 I approached Compomotive directly and they made them for me. Excellent customer service. I run quite wide rubber at 235/40 front and 245/40 rear, but my arches were re worked by Hamann Motorsport when they bought the car new in '90. I imagine a stock arch may rub, but can't be ...

That grey e21 pictured is lovely but they are few are far between, whereas when it comes to lovely e30s there are loads! Fortunately (for those who like e21 anyway), there are a lot more properly built e21 in the UK now. (There are loads in mainland Europe where the e21 is really popular and has a ...

Aesthetics are always going to be subjective and there are plenty of people who prefer the earlier styling of the Bracq cars.
