M54 Swap
Going to be starting m54 swap soon into my 323. Just wanting input on pitfalls or anything you'd do differently if to do it again. Any other mods you'd do at same time, but I'm wanting to keep it as stock looking as possible especially in the engine bay, so what's best cooling method? Cheers in adva...

As title, got these on an e30 of mine and wondered what they go for, last set I saw end a couple of months ago on eBay was over £250, is this the current value for them still? If so will be selling them to fund build. Cheers

Re: oil breather pipe
My understanding from other engines is the best thing to do with the rocker breather is to put it on its own small filter, same as you I don't like it going directly back into the engine.
I may be wrong for the BMW though.

Re: Clutch
After looking again it seems it may be an e34 single mass flywheel, what clutch will run on this, only the e34 2ltr one?
Also when bolting the flywheel to the m52 will the bolts originally fitted on the m50 be ok?
Thanks

May have something to do with the is on eBay yes, but it does need a bit of sorting, is running rich as, and dosent start easily I guess the maf meter is dead as it fires up easier with unplugged.
If it was a 2.5 m50 would it just be direst swap? Just ecu and inlet stuff needed?

Hi, just wondered if its a straight swap for fitting the m52b28 in place of the crap m50 2ltr, do I just need the engine and inlet and the ecu will the rest of the wireing run it ok, or is it easier to just go 2.5?

How much should i pay for just the engine and wiring loom and other parts needed from the car?
Or how much should i look at spending on the complete car as my mate is offering me one?

If you think it may be from the engine and not manifold. Get a piece of small tube and hold it from the engine to your ear and you should soon hear if its comming from where you hold the tube on.

Re: HELP 318is m42 noisey VW tappet noise BUT only when HOT
I would agree with the above as first thing to check. With engine just started frm cold so its not hot for ur hand, move a bit of paper around underside of manifold to help identify blow, worked for me.

Re: Clutch trouble
If you weren't losing fluid, the slave cylinder was unlikely to have been at fault anyway, although considering the state you say the fluid was in, it would likely fail shortly after changing the master in any case. The new master would push the piston in the slave slightly further than it has gone...
