Re: Hot m42 will not start easily (318IS)

Have you heard anything about a fuel valve in the rear by the fuel pump?
I read it could be that and that could be purchased as a repair kit?
Why would the injectors leak when the engine is warmed up and not on cold start?
Thanks

Hot m42 will not start easily (318IS)

Hi All, Haven't posted for a while. Had the IS out last night, cold start is perfect. Car has a new battery and fires up without a problem. However, when the car is warmed up and been running for a while, if you switch the engine off and re-start, all the lights come on etc but it just cranks over. ...

Did it make much difference Yeah, it's stopped the engine hunting around, it's ticking over really smoothly. But it was getting better anyway the more i dorve it so could have been lack of use. Can't have done any harm though and we've checked all the pipes too. Also cleaned all the air inlet syste...

Re: Tips for ICV removal M42 engine

if it has the original un bypassed ridiculous pipe system going on it's a bit of a fiddle, but you can carefully pull it from the piping without too much hassle. inlet/plenum is the best route, just because it lets you inspect the water/breather pipery.. there's a way to bypass a) the TB heater jac...

Re: Tips for ICV removal M42 engine

I dont remember it being a problem. You remove it from the back of the head, spray it with cleaner, let it drain out and refit. Check the pipes for splits whilst you at it. Thanks for this, do you need to remove the inlet manifold to get access or can you get to it without doing that? Good idea to ...

Hi All, Haven't posted for a while. I have my IS back on the road, MOT'd etc. A few problems, have fitted new battery (background really). Really struggling to get it up to normal running temp. Could this be a thermostat problem? The engine must be getting warm, it's the same as any other engine, so...

Righto! What you have done with Brian's trick with the wire from the battery to the coil is to replace the solid green wire that runs from the ign switch to the coil, this wire has a break in it somewhere where Mr Alarm Installer has been at work. Unscrew the cover of the diagnostic socket (can't tell you where it is, 'cause you haven't told us what engine!), and use a piece of wire to link together pins 11 and 14. This should engage the starter. Brian, how stupid of me! I thought you would have remembered the epic head rebuild and subsequen...

C101 is where the engine loom joins the body loom,a large round connector on the engine bay side of the bulkhead.Seperating this connector, and pulling the plug through the bulkhead from the ECU,is all you need to dis-connect electricaly when removing an E30's engine. Re: Help - Immobiliser preventing starting on my Touring (Wa

Trace the black/yellow wire from the ign switch to starter motor. There's a connector just above the glovebox area where the inhibit circuit breaks it on an auto,so that's the most likely place an alarm installer would use. From there,it will go via C101 to the starter. Ok Malcolm, thanks. I'm caut...
