Re:

Thanks for helping me out on this! I have found that the E36 that I can buy is an E36 328is! If it is pretty much the same job, I guess it is indeed a 'no brainer'. The engine is only a 70k low mileage example as well! Is the immobiliser the reason that the clocks are transferred along with the engi...

Re:

Sorry to add my confusion, to the confusion! The engine codes on the BMW range always confuse me! So the M50 is the 325i from the E30, and the M52 is 328i from the E36? I am following this thread with interest as I am in a similar position! I own a '93, 316i touring lux. I have sorted all the bodywo...

Re:

Well, I'm 37, years old, married with 2 teenage lads! I have a very long history of owning classics and modern classic cars. I like the older and more 'interesting cars' and about a year ago I bought a two owner '93, Lagoon green 316i touring. I bought it as my 'modern!' work use and general purpose...

Re: i hope e30 ownership is not gunna be like this

S'funny, I also seem to run my touring a lot on the red light! I get exactly 25 miles when the petrol light is solidly lit :) I did of course find that figure out the hard way, having previously just owned a car that gave me about 50 miles in the red!! I know it's not good for the car to do it! I'm ...

Re: how much should I ask for my E30?

Hmm. Might just retrim all the inside with tan leather and swap engine for a Diesel or 1.8i. Might be a flyer. Could use it as a rolling advert for my leather business.... 8) LOL. Just seen this on ebay...... Now that is over ambitious... 8O http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E30-316i-Lux-Touring-93-L-104k-m...

how much should I ask for my E30?

Sorry to ask a silly question but I value the opinions on here and know I'll get an honest answer. I don't really want to sell her, but have too many things going on to keep her (I need a van for my new business). I'll post a few pics so you can have a squint at her. She's a '93 316i touring lux in ...

Re: Refurbing costs?

They look like they would need welding and machining back (if you want powder coating). Also doing one wheel might look odd as the others would look duller. I use LM powder coating in Chesterfield. They bead blast and powder coat for £25. each.welding and machining I get done myself. prolly about an...

Re: wierd whining noise... from gearbox?

At the moment all the different areas on my car are competing for 'who can make the most noise' awards..... Not sure if it's the diff or gearbox tbh. I think I'll ring the nice BMW mechanic who lives in sheffield. He will probably give me some fantastic news.....
