Re: Windscreen washers faulty

Chances are a pipe going to a washer jet has partly fallen off or split
Check those I would
And if that fails whip the pump out of the bottle and have a look to see if his pick up is clear

Re: driving with blown power steering pump

It will be majorly heavy
And if the pumps running but with no fluid in it'll probably dry out, and start to fall to bits when the bearings break up
Driving a car with failed power steering is nothing like driving a car that isn't fitted with power steering

Your shock absorbers won't change your ride height

Re: I think my head gasket has gone

if your struggling bleeding it, try jacking the front up while its cold and filling the system right up, then running it up while its jacked up like that
ive found that to help work airlocks to the top of the system before

20 march the car having no stereo had gotten boring on the ears, with only the m40 with its worn out cam ticking away, and the gearbox making grating noises i decided it would be worth looking into buying a stereo so we took a trip to a local stereo / in car enterttainment shop to browse and see wha...

Re: dry CV joint..?

i cant imagine a cv joint having run dry because theres normally a preoper amount of grease in there and to lose enough to go dry would make a real mess,
potentially more likely to be a disc back plate fouling something, noisy wheel bearing or something like that

M40 gearbox to M42 gearbox upgrade prop compatibility?

I've purchased an m42 gearbox for my m40 318i
Just wondered if I can adjust the prop length enough on the splines
Or do I need an m42 gearboxs prop
As I know the m42 gearbox is slightly longer?

Re: Pre facelift m20 into m40,

When putting a late engine into a early car Pin 20 will most likely need blanking off As on later cars it's a positive feed for abs out of the engine loom and the car loom has an earth on that pin And I'm not sure if it will affect you or not but early cars have a separate plug for the fuel consumpt...
