Starter Solenoid
I've got problems at the moment with the IS not starting. I can hear the starter motor spinning but it sounds like it is not engaging and actually cranking the engine over. So I assume it must be an issue with the solenoid not engaging? I have tried starting via the key/shorting pins 11 & 14 and the...

Sarkies 1990 318is
I just realised that I had never actually posted a proper thread about my e30. This is the 2nd one i've had (1st was a low spec 318i) It's MOT'd for another year. (It's been sat in the garage for the last few months while i've been enjoying the Capri cause I couldn't be arsed to sell it/knew i'd reg...

They did my wolfrace ones on my Capri, and they weren't great. I wasn't that happy about the marks that were left on them, as well as the repair they did on one of the rims. you live and learn though

we went from here to Aberdeen over new year (1100 mile round trip) in our 318is, fully laden, and it performed fantastically.

Re: How Comfortable are you E30's
i find the ride of my is is comfortable (189k, -40mm springs). When i first got it, I had to get a mate to weld up the bracket that supports the seat back, as that had broken and it wasn't supportive. the only thing it needs, is some more sound proofing in the doors, as on the motorway these seem to...

Retro Cars old project car?
I was re-reading an old copy of Retro cars from last year, and noticed in the staff cars, there was one who had a 325i, and I was wondering if anyone knew anymore about it?
As I loved the wheel/tyre combination it was sitting on. It was called project Lady Racer

Interior lights not coming on
right another query, but a much more minor one this time! when I open the doors, the interior lights fail to come on (and yes, they are on the correct setting before anyone asks  ) You can switch them on manually, and I know the door switches work, as the window/sunroof lights go on when you op...

at least now it's all been apart/back together once and correct torqued up, it should all come apart much easier next time round

Re: Ticking noise from rear wheels
right - sorted, at least temporarily. I took the rear wheels/drums off this morning to have a proper look. It turns out one of the fixings that hold the shoes to the backplate was missing, so the shoe was loose, and the spring was rubbing against the wheel bolts. rang around, but nowhere can get the...

Re: fuel prices
i've never understood the logic in hiking up fuel duty so high - surely it's the government shooting itself in the foot?
higher prices mean the cost of the good and services we do produce go up, and make them uncompetitive..

Re: Ticking noise from rear wheels
I have just been outside, and loosened the rear wheel bolts, and the noise stopped - so those of you who said were correct!
when I took the bolts out completely you can see where they have been rubbing.

Ticking noise from rear wheels
I am getting a very worrying sounding noise coming from the rear wheels, which I can't identify. I thought it was the rear pad sensor rubbing, as the light was on. I would have changed them myself but I couldn't get the wheel nuts off as they'd been done up with an airgun. so had to take take it to ...

why, are you scrapping this one? just a bit fed up of trying to sell it... if you are 100% honest - and you just put people off. Bad points: rear valance below the toeing eye has gone - it's been touched up to stop it getting any worse. around the aerial is a little bit crispy diff wines a bit clut...

if you are doing something like just the spoiler, and exact match isn't quite so important, as you don't have to worry about loosing the edge of the paint against the existing in the same way. what ever you do, don't use halfords paint- especially white for any car always seems to come out cream fro...

Re: a special age to own a e30
I'd avoid a 2 door though if you have kids, even though most people seem to think they're better for some reason. I'm 43 too, perfect age... My wife actually convinced me not to get a 4 door, as with a 2 door you can get the kids in, and have easier more space to belt them in with the seat forward,...
