Eventually got my wheels fitted, 2 months after making this post, phew!!!! I promise I will get some pictures up  I can now report on whether they fit or not...............THEY DONT!!!! :( Well not that they don't fit, just that the rear tyres rub on the arches when going over uneven sur...
Hi Regardless of what you buy, make sure all 4 tyres are the same as this will make alot of difference to the handling. Previous cars I've had have had different tyres and I thought the handling was crap, but when I put 4 new tyres on the handing was a lot better, and not just down to tyre wear on t...
Hi There Mine is stuck at 3000rpm and rarely moves. had it checked out and it is the rev counter unit that is faulty. You need to get hold of either a rev counter or a full set of clocks and swap the rev counter over into your clocks. Obviously you need to make sure the rev counter you are going to ...
Thanks for the replies, some of you are mentioning spacers, I thought I would only need spacers if the offset is incorrect do the spacers stop the wheel rubbing on the inside, hence the need to roll the arches?
Hi Don't think Bilstien do springs only, the ones that come with their streetline and sprintline kits are ventura springs which are sold seperately through eurocar parts. I posted a similiar suspension question and was advised by most people not to mix and match springs and shocks, ie buy a kit apex...
Al.... It really depends what offset they are, mine were ET13 and you wouldn't want them to sit any further out, but there was plenty of clearance behind They are et20 at the front and et15 at the rear. Thanks for info. The car is getting some welding done on the inner arches this weekend so I will...
Hi Folks Just bought a set of Azev A 7 x 16 front and 9 x 16 rear wheels from ebay. Tried to post a pic but unable to, numpty :( I know should have checked this before I bought them, :? will the rears fit straight on without any archwork being done? I hope to lower the car at some point, nothing big...
It's no big deal to MIG weld a couple of small steel plates into the rear wheel arches, (although beware of petrol vapours). It's not like you have to produce an invisible repair. Brian I only wish it was a couple of plates :( The right hand side is that bad that the petrol tank has got to come out...
Oh No 8O Had the same problem with my 1989 sport, except I had it on both sides. Turned out both inner rear arches were rusted through, so check that out aswell. I hope it is only your boot seals, only wished it was with mine, as I have been quoted by 4 different bodyshops between Ԛ£500-Ԛ£...
Yeah I know what they are and I know the years, as any BMW nerd should know 8) My question was what do they stand for, as in why e30, then e36 (a diff of 6) but then e46 (a diff of 10) see what I mean :D Cheers Al ps Should have read the previous post, before I posted this as it kinda says the same ...
Hi Brian Cheers for the advice, I am waiting to get both relays replaced then I will seal them both up properly. I poked about(lightly) with my screwdriver to try unblock the sill drain holes which I think I have done but they weren't half blocked with muck and a lot of something else!!! 8O Cheers o...
Ok I have now stripped out my central locking relay as per the tech article but I have another relay (more like an indicator/hazard) relay next to the one pictured in the tech article, any ideas? It isn't half corroded though, plentyof water ingress in that part of the car, over 15 years worth I thi...
Hi There The leather in my 1989 sport is looking a bit tired, no cracks or rips, tears, etc, but just a bit lifeless :( So I thought I would get some restoration cream, but there is so many on the market, oil/water based leathers, etc. Can anyone recommend a product to bring the leather back to life...
Hi guys The what looks like factory exhaust on 1989 sport has come to the end of its life. So I need a new one. I know this question has come up many times before but I am looking for something specific. 8) Many exhausts I've looked at seem to exit the tailpipes at a 45o angle in relation the the bu...
This is really weird, I wass going to post the very same problem :o All of a sudden my central locking has packed in, get a buzzing noise coming from the footwell when I lock the car but the passenger door doesn't lock. Might add that I have just had an alarm fitted the other day which was wired for...
1989 325i sport, 20mpg around town or 25-27mpg on motorway or longer journeys. Although in general to achieve 25-27mpg I would have to keep the speed steady and not go above 65-70mph, which none of us would do being the legal speed limit  !! Cheers ps 1997 E36 328 touring 31mpg around town, 35...
Maybe the plastic panel behind the door card is split/cracked, had the same problem on a MK2 Golf Gti . The rain just runs down the window, into the door and through the split panel and your left with a wet footwell and steamed up windows
Can I still buy the bilstien m-tech dampers or will they supercede to boge m-tech Apex do a kit for about Ԛ£250 that will lower 60mm, they do another one that lowers 35mm. Jos have you fitted Apex or has anyone? How is the ride compared to standard (I like the standard ride oooer 8O) but think ...
Hi All My rear shocks are knackered on my 1989 325i sport so I am going to renew front and rear shocks and also fit a set of Eibach springs. Now I've long been aware there is some debate of what dampers are fitted as standard to sport, some say bilstien, some say boge. Since I have a copy of the BMW...
Check the rear arches. I've just bought a 1989 325i sport, 1 owner with FBMWSH. After a couple of weeks I noticed a major build of water behind the rear wheels in the boot, got the car checked out and have been informed that both inner wing are rotten through. Been quoted between Ԛ£500 and Ôš...
