I had a sump gasket go on mine near the rear.I part fixed mine with a piece of gasket sheet and some instant gasket paste after dropping the sump down a inch or 2.It took a couple of hours and has been leak free for over a year now 8)

Quite a few people i know have scratched their paintwork with a flexiblade,so make sure every little spec of dirt has been removed after sponging and hosing.

20ish for me for urban driving which aint to bad i suppose, only a few mpgs down on bmws official book figures when the e30 325i was spanking new and when you think mines getting on a bit now and must be well clogged up with soot and everything lol!

How i found out about this common problem was from a one of these mr clutch fitters when i asked about how much it was to replace the clutch and rear oil seal at the same time cos of my leak..So he saved me a bit of wedge with hes knowledge with bmw's :clap:

Yep always check gasket first.I had the same problem on my old 320i touring..I part repaired the rear of the sump gasket and i didnt even take sump totally off,i just dropped it down a inch or so and repaired in situ.

Follow the bottom rad hose up to the cylinder head and the thermostat is in the housing/pipe off the head,i think 3 bolts hold it on.

Try adjusting the handbrake cables first,the shoes aint self adjusting so you need to adjust them every now and then..The cables adjusters are under the centre console.

I wouldnt of thought a set of 318is shocks would be a upgrade on 325i m-tech dampers...Wouldnt they be under dampered?? due to the lighter 318is engine.

Might be best to check part numbers before you fit.

Cam oil seal i reckon. He just said he's had a new cam oil seal fitted. It's probably the front crank seal with the oil leaking down that low, it's hard to tell from the pictures though. It could well be a bad seal on the camshaft but I have my doubts. It could also be a bad seal on the head gasket...

Backs should be alright,but fronts will be more heavier sprung due to the heavy 325i lump..I would think it would sit higher on the front with the 325i springs fitted.

My old white 325i touring was a pain in the arse to keep clean. I found when it was polished it looked brilliant but if i gave it just a wash without polishing there would be this grey film on the paint that made it look dull :( you could rub a finger on the paint and actually see the dirty/grey fil...

Magnatec is not a fully syn, it's a semi (modified mineral oil) I don't personally rate it. You can buy a lot better for the same money. I used the 10k stuff on my old 320i (120k) touring and that did perk the car up a bit :thumb: and that car really did need perking up!!
