Re:
I was recently welcomed on here but in the past been on Ford sites where every single person is an RST, cvh, zetec, expert that turns out to know nothing but owns a copy of Autodata. Also my VTEC just kicked in mid sentence there and the second cam went waaaaaa.

Re: e39 530d
Economy wise the 530 d was not as good as I was led to think and when you consider the extra cost per litre for the derv its only really down to personal taste as alot of people still think diesels are agricultural which is no longer true. 530d's do run on cooking oil but!

Re: Starship mileages
The BMW's are only just run-in at 100k, I've only got 89k on mine but the previous 525 had 180k when sold but having seen it up for sale again recently it would appear to have been clocked. A friends Octavia taxi has 370k miles but those buggers just don't seem to die.

Re: Wet Boot
After sealing in tail lights and swapping the boot rubbers I still got water in the jack and cubby hole areas, looking in the car over the winter period I'm sure condensation is also a problem as the foam behind the tool kit still gets wet.

Re: Oil pressure.
Thanks for the replies guys. I stripped the car at the weekend and changed pump, pressure relief valve, all the gaskets new oil etc, now working perfectly. The old pump had noticable wear on the rotors, the car only has done 89k so I'm not sure what was the cause.

Slightly off topic, but am I right in thinking that Alpinas will only have Alpina and not BMW written in the log book V5.

Don't break it, we (as a nation) are running out of 318is'.
Make it your summer project and when its done you can look at it and say "I'm glad I didn't scrap that" or words to that effect.

Re: paint fade red e30 !!
You see too many car washes using TFR, (traffic film remover) all over cars, it makes them look shiny til they dry and then you can see all the protective coats of wax and polishes are gone leaving the paint naked and vulnarable to oxidisation. If I was you I would polish the car with a good compoun...

Re: faded red mtec kit any tips to brighten it up??
When I got a bonnet painted on a red car a few years back I was advised to use stuff called G3 on the rest of the car, its very good, alot dryer than t-cut, but with a wax the paint never faded again, could try that.

Re: Oil pressure.
Its the rotor type pump and is buried in the middle behind the timing case, I had the sump off and hoped the pick up pipe had just "fell off" but it was still on. It looks a big job even to get to the pressure relief valve. Even if it is the pump and valve plus gaskets etc they dont cost too much bu...

Oil pressure.
Got a problem. Oil pressure light on, checked oil and changed the switch as I had one anyway, light still on and engine is now starting to sound a bit tappety up top, I've taken off cam cover and filter housing and oil is not circulating. Anyone got any ideas about common blockages etc as I'm scared...
