i took a chisel to mine, as long a you are carefull, they come off no problem without any damage to the wheels .
you might not want to go down that road if your wheels are in decent nic and you want to keep it that way tho!

When i need to fix my bike, there is a place where i can rent a bench and tools, and even get a wee bit of advice for £3 an hour. i reckon i'll just bite the bullet and get some genuine BMW bushes fitted. any idea what sort of price i'll be looking at?

don't think they are totally nakered yet just on the way out, and would rather replace them before the sleeve goes.
