i think anything old, which is quite rare is considered a classic... obviously e30s are a lot rarer than they used to be and will potentially soon become classic status.. obviously an m3 e30 would be considered classic because they are so rare, things like ford cortinas also.. etc

I would define a classic car - as anything over a certain age well looked after and maintained bodywork in mint condition!

congrats on your purchase ollie, own a 316 carb myself. As others have said do get the weber conversion as if it has the standard pierburg on it it will be crap and most likely stall lots when cold unless you let it warm up for about 15mins in the morning, this is whats happening to mine and am goin...

as above, check the viscous (do the newspaper test), also check the thermostat, you said you have bled the system, have you turned the heaters on and are you getting constant hot air out of them or are they blowing hot/cold, if so then you have an airlock and havent bled the system correctly, but i ...

my rear o/s arch was knackered, had a hole going right the way through not into the boot but into the rear quarter panel, spent a day and a half on it in total, firstly did 2 layers of p40 to fill the hole and then let it dry over night, then the following day i had to build up a non existant arch l...

would also check rear arches as well as these tend to go on E30s, have just rebuilt my entire rear arch this afternoon, the area inside the rear arch/quarter panel can also rust, mine had rusted right the way through so had to but some P40 on it

water should be running at half way no hotter than halfway, if it is you might need to check your viscous fan or possibly bleed the cooling system, not sure on the oil one though sure someone else will post an answer to that one!

ahh you must mean Lewes prison, yeah wouldnt mind that, as long as you got the carb as well as the E30 is my only runner, so will have a bit of a problem taking the cowling off :S
