TBC Gert, it will have some compromise to handling but will still be fun and we build these things to satisfy our own tastes, I'll keep tweaking it until I find the best balance of what I want from it... It's only in a rolling state at present, the tyre tread will be tucked in when it's finished.

So not been on the forum for a while and the only real update is a unit move which means that the 30 is still up North whilst I reside down South! Duly noted... I do find it odd that they run the same part number though... I think I'll check in with someone from BMW on this one...
But agree that I certainly don't want to be scrimping on £100 for all that extra power/risk of ruining the lump!!

Re: M60 ECU
Cheers Will, Afraid that I don't have the EWS bits... I can't see any difference either but guessing they must have a different map, I notice that both engines (3&4L) run the same injectors so guessing it can't be the same map with a heavier flow rate...

M60 Power Steering
Just wondering if anyone knows whether to expect issues with running the M60 power steering pump with the the E30 rack? Would this need a pressure regulator or perhaps a larger pulley to reduce rpm?
Cheers

I have have two ECU's for my M60 conversion: 261 200 404 - (fairly sure this came out of my 530) 261 203 484 - (fairly sure this came out of the 740) I will be running the B40 lump but I am not certain how to determine whether the '404 (Non-EWS) is from the B30 or B40. From a quick search online it ...

Fuel Pumps - B30 vs B40
Just wondering if anyone knows whether the M60B40 has a different or higher rated fuel pump to that if the M60B30?
At present I have a pump from the B30 to run my B40 engine so just wondering if I need to source a different pump.
Cheers,

ECU Options
Just embarking on my M60 conversion and going to run a 5 speed manual, I've bought a M60B40 with auto ECU and loom and an M60B30 Manual with ECU, Loom and box. My question is if I was to use the manual loom and ECU from the B30 on the B40 could I get this mapped so that the fuelling would be ok for ...

Re: Alternator not charging under 3k revs..
I have had this issue on other cars whereby the thin wire "exciter wire" as I have heard it referred to as is faulty e.g. broken/poor connection so it would be worth looking over the wiring as they often run close to hot areas of the engine they can become brittle or melt etc...
