Re: Dilemma
A little update and thanks for all those interested. My cousin's going to pop over tomorrow and give the car a general clean up. I'll then be able to post current photos of it (like I said, it's a bit of a mess at the mo) Then we'll see if it still runs ok. Assuming it does, I'll update this thread ...

Dilemma
What to do? Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I posted on here. Hope you’re all well :) I have a little dilemma. In August 07, I left England and moved to Holland. Alas, I had to leave my beloved E30 behind. The plan was, my brother would keep it ticking over so when I came back to visit, I could...

Search on http://www.smcars.net/
I've tried modelling the E30 a few times and, to be honest, all the blueprints are crap. Best to use lots of reference photos instead.

Cruises at 90 all day long but takes a while to get there. Overtaking is horrible as there's no torque whatsoever. Gotta plan ahead ;)

Re: Basic query - bonnet badge
Lift up the bonnet, look inside where the badge is. There's 2 plastic nuts. Unscrew them and carefully push the prongs of the badge through.

Re: Slowly getting there.
Nope, mine were already black. I have had one side off a couple of times (actually, it used to fall off ;)) Taking them off is a bit of a pain. You need to take the inside of the door apart to push the the clips through from the back. A few will probably break but they're only pence from the dealer....

Please help a poor fool order parts.
Hi guys. Well, its time yet again to show my technical ineptitude and ask for your help. I've been shown the parts I need to order for my rear suspension. The problem I'm having is working out what to actually order from GSF. Part numbers never match up and the descriptions aren't great :/ I've mark...

Re: My first E30!
Nope, no undercoat. Just a quick wash off. I did my front over a year ago and it's still nice and black. The only time some did come off was when the n*bs at Kwik fit bashed the wing in and it was easy to paint over again.

Re: Slowly getting there.
The bumpers were plastic. But they'd gone badly grey and no amount of clever blackening agent would touch them. As for the window chrome (thats all I had to do) first I rubbed it all down then added an undercoat of hamerite paint. I was a bit afraid of removing the strips from the car after hearing ...

Re: My first E30!
Wow! You've done a great job! I might have to invest in some of those products.
btw, my bumpers had gone the same colour as yours. I just got some satin black spray from Halfrauds. 1 coat did the trick. None of those other cleaning products would get near it.

Re: Slowly getting there.
Thanks for the kind words. I always post the colour up when I put a pic of the car as everyone always asks what it is. Seems its quite unusual (can never find it when looking through those colour charts) I never like it when I first got the car. It had a beige interior at the time. Proper 'old fart'...

I've been giving the old girl some lovin' of late. Just completed a dechrome on the windows. Needs to go in for a service and MOT next week :/ Getting a 40mm drop too ;) Just a quick was this morning and I've only polished this side hehe. Apparently I need some subframe bushes as mine are knackered. However, it seems that's not actually the name used for them. Can anyone shed some light for me?

ah got it, it's the damned battery. Used the the tester terminal thingy (shorted pins 11 and 14) and I can actually see the battery giving off fumes.
All that trouble just for a lousy battery!
Brian, you're a godsend. I've seen many of your posts in the past and you're a top guy!

Re: Starter Motor?
Well, I changed the starter motor. Still no joy :/
Must be a loose connection somewhere?
The wires to the starter stay cool. Earth wire is in good condition.
But there is a strange smell. Sulphur-ish?

Actually, it's because I've always been a huge ZZ Top fan. The guitarist is called Billy Gibbons. One of his nicknames is RevBillyG.
It just so happens, when I got my car the reg plate is F221 REV. So, I just had to buy it ;)

Re: 6x9 spacers & sub
For the spacers, just make your own. A bit of MDF will do the trick (I used some microcellular rubber that I got from work. Does the job nicely.) As for the sub, just take out the panel that's been tacked welded over the ski hatch. A lot of people are gonna say, "Nooo, dont have a sub and 6x9's!!" B...
