I understand your point especially as for the OP he was asking in relation to premiums but I for one regardless of my insurers policy would rather my car didn't go missing and if an alarm was enough of a deterrent then great. Of course, for you own peace of mind having an alarm is always worth it.

Check whether insurers need it before spending any money.

It sounds like you need to involve either an accident management company or involve your own insurer, the latter will effect NCB if you put a claim in for any damage but if it is proven to be non--fault, NCB will be re-instated. An agreed value is exactly that, you'll get paid that full agreed value minus policy excess.

You mention the car is cat b though, pretty much every insurer will no quote on that basis.

And they rob you of NCB if you have over 9 years. Only if he is a trader. Far too many (non traders) run around with trader polices, when they claim they are usually asked for proof of trading, no proof - void claim.

You need to find a limited mileage policy
