Re: Coilovers options

Around the £550 mark is as cheap as you'll find in my experience. I'd be very wary of £200 e30 coilovers, like you say, they will be crap. The reason they're more expensive than say a VW coilover is because of the strut design of the e30. The stub axle/wheel hub assembly and the front strut are one ...

Re: Front valance respray Q...

Thanks for the advice, the dimply surface does look like stone chip, but its peeling away at the corners which I why I think there's a gel coat under there. I'll try and get a photo so show what I mean....

Front valance respray Q...

My front valance (facelift) appears to be coated with some sort of plastic/gel coat type finish. Is this common to all facelift e30s?

I want to respray the whole thing, can I sand and paint/prime straight onto this stuff or will the paint just crack off?

Thanks

Re: Thinking of buying these rims (OPINIONS PLEASE!)

Mahles! I've got a set FS, but theyre 14" and 5x120 so not ideal e30 fitment...

They look ace though and nice bit of dish, I think they suit the e30 better than those Fondmetals. :)

I voted yes cos they do look like sexier RA's... depends on price tho, wouldnt spend mega bucks on them.

Why would you need adapters? look like golf fitment to me, good to go... spacers maybe?

Yeah adaptors, 4x100 to 5x130 is what you need. Expensive new but look around on ebay you can probably get hold of some for around £50. Not seen teledials on an e30, good luck tho! :)

Re: Lowering woes/sump info...

If found them hard to come by tbh... bought mine off a zoner, one-off steel jobbie. Try sticking a post up in the wanted section. All the ones ive seen people have had them made specially. I dont think there's an off the shelf solution unfortunately.

Re: Lowering woes/sump info...

Get a sump guard. I'm lowered 60 all round and went through a couple of sumps in the first few months. The sumps made of really soft aluminium so every time you hear a scrape thats a little bit more wearing down. Eventually you get this: :D http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d189/tristram85/Photo0114...

Can anybody identify these wheels...

They've been in my garage about a year, been bugging me what model theyre off. They're 5x120 pcd, 14x7J, centre bore is about 74mm, and have 'BMW' and 'BBS-MAHLE' embossed on the lips. Anyone know what model they might have come with? Pics: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d189/tristram85/SDC11694....

Re: 15x10J's on the rear...

Ah i see your point with the bbs. Ive been running some 9J et0 on the rear which sat pretty much perfect. So am i righth in thinking (working from the table below) a 10J with an offset of -12 would give the same inner arch clearance (backspace), but stick out of the arch by an additional inch? http:...
