fuel pump question - oe part?

what's the difference between a fuel injector pump and a fuel pump in-tank? I've been on GSF car parts, and an injector pump is £60-odd quid, but an in tank fuel pump is £150 quid. expensive car, that. 145K and no tax?

watch out for the fuel pump/relay etc, and make sure it has some sort of history at that mileage. cheers, easy.

right. after changing my fuel pump 2 weeks ago, my car's stopped working again. It's blowing the 7.5A fuse every time I try and start it, it's turning on the starter but not starting. Relay? or another fuel pump? Which one is the fuel relay?

e30 316i by the way. '89. thanks in advance...

Yep. peice of the proverbial. I went to a car boot sale this morning, and got myself a blaupunkt cd300 car cd player ,plugged it into my car, entered the code (which some helpful soul had written on the top) and away it went.

Total cost? five of your finest English puonds.

before I start...

replacing the fuel pump, are there any extra bits I might need, i.e. seals, rubber compound, etc? And any tips, other than disconnecting the battery?
