Re: race car finished and on rolling road
I am not into five figures put it that way, to be honest I don't keep a record on purpose! A few of my parts were second hand (LSD) or not top name brands also help/supplies from forum members (strut braces/camber/alloy tank/big sump). The engne work is where it can go silly. I had one quote for £10...

Re: race car finished and on rolling road
mattrs, yes 2010 will be my next season, so I really am not that qualified to answer your questions. For me it all started when I bought a 2 door, 325i (non sport) no sunroof on ebay for £650 for a few track days. I fitted some 888's (sticky tyres), uprated the suspension (Bilstein B8's - now have c...

race car finished and on rolling road
i have been using this forum while getting a race car built (pre 93/ttrs). Just had it on a rolling road today - 191hp (flywheel), which i am very happy with a it has not had too many mods but just been rebuilt by the great chap who put the car together - happy to pass on his number, the garage is D...

Re: throttle bodies on an e30 325i?
paynts, thanks for you post. With throttle bodies what racing series/hilclimbs etc do you do with the car? As far as I m aware(could be wrong), Pre 93 you can't use throttle bodies, but in TTRS you can and also by the sounds of it Kumho. Can I also ask what HP you recorded(flywheel) at Thor? I am ju...

Re: what is the max power you cn get from an e30 325i
jimmy C - thanks, always up for a hog roast. Will come along and check it out. I take it you race a 325i i the TTRS? Can I ask what kind of HP you would need to be competitive. I am trying to gauge is how much ££ you need to throw at your engine not to have mud kicked in your face. I.e if most cars ...

Re: what is the max power you cn get from an e30 325i
kim, that is very very helpful, thank you. I have not really decided what series I would like to run in yet, it was TTRS and now I am leaning towards pre 93 (i saw it in a magazine called Race and track cars) maybe just because I also like the older cars and I think you run on the same day as them (...

Re: what is the max power you cn get from an e30 325i
e21 Jason - great, just the advice i was after. How much hp do you think you wll get on your 'cheaper/m50 rods' option. 230hp sounds nice, but 6k does not. Do you think 230hp is reliable? I am happy to 'freshen up' the engine at the end of the series but want it to be reliable apart fom that. I am g...

Re: what is the max power you cn get from an e30 325i
agent006 - thank you. I reckon 200bhp should be the minimum I should try and go for and try and push for some more. Re: what is the max power you cn get from an e30 325i
cheers Kimbo, I am going to enter the 'pre 93 touring cars', looks very similar to TTRS I think but maybe with more effort behind it (could be wrong). I think we can change inlet and exhaust manifolds, infact we can change almost everything apart from upping capacity and turbos etc. I will look into...

what is the max power you cn get from an e30 325i
I am having my engine tuned for racing, want it to be reliable but what is the max I can get? I will be changing cam, gas flowing, lightened flywheel, new pistons etc etc. I would hope to get 230hp + Can't turbo or superharge, so please no stories of 600hp+ and also I can't changing the fuel injecti...

Re: springs / setup
I thought coilovers would be about £1,000 for a full set and I can put in some new springs to get a lower ride height and stiffer for about £200. Are coilovers really that good? When I start racing i wolud have thought that my level of skill would be the biggest drawback! : ) Saying that why spend t...

springs / setup
I have an e30 325i which I am setting up for the ttrs, at the moment it is on Eibach srings and bilstein b8 dampers. It currently rides quite high, so I want to lower it. I know a lot of you run coilovers, is this the only option or are there some new springs that you can recommend?

Re: track e30 advice
i have just done that and it is a great car. My advice, buy one with the best bodywork you can. Lots of them have lots of rust and you can spend a lot of time and money putting it right. Try and get a 2 door if poss. Then come and do some racing mybe later... You can get lots of parts and advice her...
