Please do your research if you plan on using a M60 gearbox. I came across the information in the link below, but have no personal experience of doing the modification

Re: BMW E30 M62 4.4 V8 Gearbox Options, modded ZF help
Do you know that the early 5 or 6 speed V8 gearboxes can be drilled to accommodate the crank position sensor? You can buy gearbox converters to allow non V8 gearboxes to fit the M62, not sure if they work with the flywheel cps though. Also you need a clutch spacer apparently. Search Bmw V8 gearbox o...

Re: M60 auto swap.
Why 4.4 M60? I don't think the extra capacity is worth the effort.
If I was you I would use the complete package from the donor car M60 and gearbox it came with for the least hassle with the gearbox ecu. The swap is difficult enough.

Re: Which suspension to upgrade to
The problem with wheels is that 17's give a bad ride, 15's look abit small and the compromise of 16's doesn't give you much choice in decent wheels. I had 16" alpinas on my old motorsport and recommend them, but doubt that you can find a decent set within your budget. Overall it might be best to sti...

Thanks, for digging that out.
My ring is from an E39 and it looks like the e30 ring needs to be removed to have any chance of fitting.
Do you have a picture of it fitted?

When I took the engine out all the wiring went with it. I'm left with the fuse box wire that goes directly to the battery.
I looked at the fuse box lid to find relay K5.
What do you mean terminal clamp? The ground near the battery?

Re: Microsquirt
IIRC one side of the coil goes to ground and the other goes to the the microsquirt. It should say in the manual. The icv helps to start the car when cold by adding extra air. You can do that yourself by pressing on the pedal for the first 45 seconds or so. On a non daily driver I think you can do wi...
