Re: Central Locking Question!

Had this - did the red/black wire disconnect thing - this didn't help - However I found that the fault was the C/Locking ECU had a damaged resistor. I soldered it together & its fine now. Had exactly the same symptons as you. Had to manually close all doors. But could open the drivers door ok!! You ...

Just an update - it is the standard BMW alaem ie. Siren, box & key. I left this completely disconnected & soldered the CL ECU, this resolved my fault - So the wires do not have to be connected to make the C/L work.

Re: Central Locking help on E30 1990 325i sport

Had lots of issues with mine - Did the red/black wire thing. No joy. It was the central locking ECU. There is a repair guide on here - basically had a broken wire on the resistor. Soldered it together - and coolio...........all working. Dead chuffed.

Where was the car kept for the last 3 years? If you haven't declared it SORN in all that time then the DVLA might feel like fining you for that too! :? If the grass verge / parking spaces are owned by the council etc then then your car has to be taxed to park there. The car has been kept in a barn ...

As B7 said it's got to be on your property or it's classed as public highway, there was one guy on here that got his car clamped and maybe even removed IIRC. He thought he was OK as it was in his allocated parking bay outside his house. Not much you can do about it really. Did it pass with no work ...
