Re: Pics of my 320 as it's a nice day

Thanks! It's currently for sale as I could do with the cash but if it doesn't sell then I'll be on the look out for some sport suspension or equivalent, along with a nice exhaust whenever I eventually have any spare money, but that could be a while!

Re: Fuel Economy 325i

I did a thread on MPG a while back and was getting around 32mpg IIRC fairly consistantly on my B20 engine. If you can dig the thread out you'll see the maths I did to make it a fairly accurate mpg experiment.

Shame about breaking down but it's luck of the draw with 2nd hand bits. It could've lasted forever, you just never know.

Nice Capri!! I'm a Ford fan too...

Yeah, I think I'll do a bit more investigation on this, I've got the cambelt to change so might have it all apart at the weekend and take a proper look

Re: Oil consumption

Most likely a leak but if you say it doesnt leave stains on the drive then maybe its burning it through worn rings or valve stem seals. How many miles has it done. I was wondering about rings/stem seals but usually you'd see a bit of blue smoke and I'm getting none at all (that I can tell). Probabl...

Re: Oil consumption

No drips on the drive but it does have a slight leak as it's wet around the block. Wouldn't have thought it would leak that much without leaving some on the drive?

Oil consumption

Are M20's known to use a bit of oil? Mine's doing 1L every 1600 miles on average. Power is still good and mpg too. No signs of blue smoke etc so the engine really isn't that bad, it just seems to use a bit of oil.

Any thoughts?

Re: Oil consumption + coolant warning light problem

Thanks for the reply. I've topped it up twice with around a litre each time in 4k miles, but it's early days as I've only had the car a couple of months. I'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes once I've serviced it. Then I'll know what oil's in there etc Coolant was low the 2nd time and I topped...

Oil consumption + coolant warning light problem

Just had to top my 320 up with oil. The low level warning came on well before the min mark on the dipstick, so I left it for a little while and now have put 1L in to bring it back up pretty much on the max. I'm using 10/40 semi synth oil and I've topped it up twice in around 4k miles! Just wondering...

to be as accurateas possible you need to use the same pump atthe same petrol station for your fills so any slight slope of the ground doesnt skew the results. Nah I wasn't really driving that economically. Motorway driving was all done at between 70 and 90 on the clock, some of the A road driving involved overtaking slow cars, ie blasting it in 3rd etc so I reckon if I drove like a granny it could get better! I don't exactly rag the car but I'm not drivin...

MPG from my 320

Been doing the calculations and I'm getting just under 33 mpg from my 320. That was from a fair bit of motorway driving and lots of twisty A road. Not too bad I think. What do your reckon? What are the 325 boys getting from their cars? I've heard these are the same if not better on fuel but you've g...

Re: Rotten Scrap - Tech 1 Sport

Makes me happier about my RS Turbo now. That's not pretty underneath but it's not quite as bad as that! By comparison though, my 320 looks brand new. It's got a dodgy rear inner passenger arch and that's the only rot on the whole car :D

Re: What car can i get 51mm legs from?

all rear sets ups are the same but the spring rates are diufferent depending on what car you have (to take account of extra weight) there are aslo differetn shock absorbers for the same reason, however whilst all are interchangable they may not suit the car. Thanks for clearing that up for me! :thu...

Re: Hmm i’m in a bit of a pickle

I'm in the same boat on this one - my car has wonky tyre sizes. I've got 215/50 on the rear and worked out that these aren't too bad as the rolling circumference is only around 2% less than on 205/55's meaning my speedo will read reasonably accurately still. I've got 195/50 on the front though. Make...

Sky are a good insurer - that's who I'm with at the mo and I was playing them off against Flux for a better quote. They came up with the goods so I didn't bother ringing Flux black to beat the price, tho initially Flux were cheaper and did offer more benefits, for example driving other cars 3rd part...

Hi everyone, I'm new to bmw ownership and I've just swapped my Fiesta XR2 for what you see below. It's a 320i with a factory fitted M-tech kit (seems factory fitted from what I can tell). Also has factory remote central locking/alarm which is nice. I've been in to older Fords for years so I'm used t...
