What's happening hombres?
Just checking in after over a decade since I started playing with this scrap.
Regret selling it but know it would have dissolved around me if I had kept hold of it and continued using it as a daily.
Many of the old guard still on here?

Re: Another m52 2.8 exhaust question.
I ran a M50 inlet on my M52 swap with the scorpion M3 system (I hacked off the end of the DTM council tail pipes to make them into a slash cut)
You will have to modify the stock M52 exhaust manifolds. If you want an off the shelf solution for the manifold speak to DanThe

Re: Front arms on the E46
Just to report back, I had the PCV system totally replaced with all hoses. The turd had a leak from the oil filter housing gasket which was replaced, but was still gushing oil and using about 5l per 500 miles. I turned out the dip stick was corroded at the bottom and the pipe that goes to the Y piec...

Re: E46 330i opinions?
Yeah, good point. The cars that have absolutely astounded me with damping/ suspension yet running rubber band tyres were the Lotus Exige & Evora. My brother works for Lotus and often gets a car on a weekend to run some test miles on. The first time he hit a speed hump at 30 full on I was expecting t...

E30 M3 around a track -v- Mitsubishi Colt, cough
Anyway, on the subject of a 330i, I would say steer clear of the sport models as they have a crap ride on the 18" MV's with the low profile tyres and Mtec suspension. A well appointed SE spec car rides a lot better.

Just make sure you get a genuine Siemens one, the aftermarket ones are gash and even when brand new still throw up fault codes.

Re: Are M52 & M54 coil packs the same?
Yeah it does chuff out sometimes (not every time) on a hot start. I can't be fagged taking the inlet manifold off to do the separator valve. It also smokes a little when you give it max beans. Everett, I feel you pain with that fleet. I have even thought about just having a little spunk box as a run...

Re: Are M52 & M54 coil packs the same?
I was bored of it after 3 months, but it is transport and is comfortable. I had contemplated getting something more exciting, but with having the bike now, there's no point seeking out a "fast" car when I have 500bhp/tonne thrills on 2 wheels. I don't "work" on cars anymore either as I just can't be...

Re: Are M52 & M54 coil packs the same?
To update, I replaced all 6 coil packs with some spare M52 ones I had knocking about. Still running on 5 pots.
Changed the plugs and it sorted it out. It was #6 that was wankered.
Now to sort the creaking & groaning front suspension top mounts and new arms.

Are M52 & M54 coil packs the same?
My 2002 325i Touring has decided to reward my neglect and tonight when I left work it decided to drop onto 5 pots and the engine management light is on permanently. I'll obviously have to get it onto a diagnostic scanner to see what fault codes it throws up. Suspecting it could be a coil pack, I do ...

The M52 swap gives the car another lease of life in the performance dept, worth the effort for a fast daily driver.

Re: Cyclone Valve?
Yeah my mate has a 330i and that likes a bit of a drink too. The CDV is cack. The electronic throttle is equally gay as you can't hold it at constant revs too much when slipping the clutch and it stalls unless you want to drive like a deaf pensioner and hold the revs at 5k. Because of the poxy CDV a...

Re: E38's & E39's how much aggro are they?
Thanks for your detailed reply Andy. I don't do any work on my cars anymore (had enough axle stand action with the E30's) just pay a neighbour who runs a garage, so I just can't be arsed with the bills those turds will throw up. I'm not so daft to dream a 10+ year old diesel Golf etc would not throw...

Re: Cyclone Valve?
Not got any rough running problems at all, but it does have a major oil thirst, i would say 2-3 litres per 1000 miles.
I also despise the fly by wire throttle in these turds, never have I stalled a car so much in my life.

Re: E38's & E39's how much aggro are they?
Although I have never had as much savings before in my lifetime as I do now, the call of the jew is strong and I'm more tempted to abandon ideas of a luxobarge and get some VW tdi scrap. A Mk4 Golf 130pd turd would probably do the business without being a catastrophic liability.

Re: E38's & E39's how much aggro are they?
To be honest, after looking at Dan's thread, it is a it of a wake up call. I can barely be arsed to maintain my '02 325 touring and that MPG is grim. The soarer used to do 18+ mpg and that was clouting it about and mainly just urban driving.

I do love an E32, decent ones seem in short supply though.

E38's & E39's how much aggro are they?
I fancy a bit of waft. The inner jew still swings towards the 2.8 variants although with fuel prices getting vaguely sensible, a V8 isn't an absolute no, but I'd prefer a 528 or 728 as something that's a bit more manageable in terms of fuel & maintenance. I know the 728 has a unique tank which likes...

Cyclone Valve?
My E46 does like to slurp oil a bit too much.It doesn't smoke in normal driving/ doesn't smell, but if you clout it, you can notice a bit of shit coming out (especially at night if there is a car with headlights on behind).
Is this fairly typical of a foiked OSV?
