Standard seat base swappable from passenger to driver?

Hello all,

I have a 1986 325i with enough miles on the clock to mean that that the drivers seat has a few holes in it. Is it possible to simply swap the base/bottom part rather than the entire seat?

Thanks in advance,

I've spoken to them and the boss is calling me back today to have a chat. It's incredibly annoying because a good garage is hard to find and I have been reasonably impressed with their work.

Re: Mechanic using my car for personal use?

I used to do all my work myself including rebuilding two Nortons and a Land Rover Series 1 but unfortunately a full time job put a stop to that.

Sadly it has had the dash replaced so that theory is out of the window.

Mechanic using my car for personal use?

So hypothetical situation, say I went to go and pick up my car park plipper which I left in my E30 when I dropped it off with my mechanic only to find when I unlock the car, I find empty beer cans rolling around on the floor of the car along with other items that don't belong to me and the radio tun...

Re: were to get headunit wires?

I got my ISO to Sony adapter off eBay and bought a generic ISO harness from Halford which I then soldered in to ensure my car is easier to change the head unit in future.

I've just taken a look at the bulb and it appears to be fine but it had nothing connected to it. Is the bulb powered seperately from the cable to power the clock?

Re: Removing Door Trim

You are absolutely right. I have the S shaped mechanism in my door currently but the part I have is the scissor variety. The current issue is that either the worm on the motor or the teeth on the ratchet are worn so the motor does not stop when the window reaches the top. From what I could see my wi...

Re: Removing Door Trim

Thanks for the advice guys. This evening I tried to replace the window regulator (getting the trim off was much easier than I expected) but it appears I have the wrong part!

I will check with the mechanic tomorrow and see what he has to say on the subject.

Removing Door Trim

Hello all,

I am about to embark on replacing the drivers side electric window motor on my 1986 325i and was wondering about the locations for the screws to remove the door trim?

I would also be grateful of any other tips.

Removing Paint From Chrome

Hello all,

A previous owner of my 1987 325i obviously did not like the chrome read bumper and has painted over it. Now the paint has started to flake off and looks awful. Any suggesting on what to use to remove the paint but not damage the chrome?

Engine temp dial is showing up as being in range but all piping feels very cold. As you suggest I think it may be a coolant thermostat issue. I will take the car to a specialist next week and get him to go through the laundry list of items I have collect since driving it.
