Does anyone know of/have access to a detailed assembly diagram for the M40 engine?
I managed to procure a cylinder head but the cam and rocker arrived separately.

Clutch switch (Auto to Manual swap)
Hi everyone While researching a DIY guide to perform the auto to manual swap on my 318i, I came across something I am unsure about and was hoping someone on here could shed some light on it. I was just wondering what the clutch switch does and whether it is something I need to look into further. Or ...

Lots of water in both footwells
My car has been sat up for a couple of years now and seems to have developed some leak. Both footwells are underwater and I have no idea were its coming from. Is there a main culprit that causes this? I have had water in the passenger side (UK car) and no elephant trunk drain. Doubt its the heater c...

E30 5 lug Conversion/e36 suspension upgrade
Looking to upgrade the E30 to 5 lug hubs and am keen to use E36 parts.
On the wiki article for this project on this website, it states e36 M3 parts are to be used .
If this is not possible (£££) can 'regular' model e36 suspension components be used instead or is it M3 for a reason?
Cheers

IMO people will complain that its not an M3, therefore in no need of an M badge, but seriously dude, its YOUR car. If you want an M badge, M shifter or M written on your seat, then go for it! The guys that complain about stuff like that really have nothing else to worry about ;) Just as long as you ...

Painting M40 Intake
Hi all
Just wondering how hard it is to remove the intake manifold from an M40 as it is in dire need of a lick of paint

M40 Cams
My M40 has the dreaded tapping of an oil starved cam. :'( How hard is it to repair/replace cams for a, competent, mechanic such as myself? And maybe a new oil feeder too!
I assume its not a matter of bolt off bolt on.

'90 318i Front Struts
Anybody know what size the front struts are on the 1990 318i are?
Don't have the car right now to measure but my friend is giving me a set of 60/40 lowering springs for nothing and I wanted to know if they fit. They were off his 325i but he says they'll fit a 318i.

Re: m40 318i manual swap
A good tip is to use threaded bar (10 and 12mm) cut into 4-6" lengths. As you remove a gearbox nut, replace it with a bit of threaded bar. Go around the bellhousing, and once you've got everything on bars instead of bolts, you can wiggle out of the way and yank the gearbox off without risk of it dr...

Hello All. back again with a rather rusty issue. I recently removed to carpet from the boot of my 1990 e30 318 only to find I could see through the inner arches right through to the road underneath. Re: M40 Head gasket blown
Thanks guys, I was always willing to swap it for an M42. ;) I can find loads on E36 engines but not so many e30s, is there really a huge difference between the two? I've heard the engine loom is different but will It still plug and play like an e30 one?

E36 323i '97 engine compression test
Hi all
Someone I know has a '97 323i (so it has a Nikasil block) which has done nearly 180,000 miles so really nothing wrong with the old M50.
We still would like to run a compression test and wondered what PSI numbers to look for. I assume 150 psi but thought it was best to double check.
Cheers
