Re: M30 lambda and in line fuel pump

My M30 donor has the lambda also, and mine runs much, much better with it simply unplugged. The car runs perfectly well on a default fuel map if it does not see the lambda, and there are no downsides that I have found. Fuel economy and power both seem great, I would recommend leaving it out of the s...

Re: Fly-by wire, do I keep it?

Pianist, I got your PM, but I will answer here in case it proves useful to anyone else in the future. The third ECU is indeed for the FBW. FBW was only fitted to E32/E34s that had the optional ASC traction control box ticked. One thing you should know about FBW is it needs the EML (BMW's own three a...

I bought a latest generation (Insignia in a posh frock) 9-5 recently. I find www.uksaabs.co.uk a friendly and helpful place.

The previous generation (i.e. up to 2010) Aero Estates do look like a lot of car for the money.

Thanks guys, hopefully a good clean coupled with lubricating the slider pins will help. @Brian, sticking as in not fully releasing and thus that particular brake gets very hot after 3-4 miles. It passed the MOT like that, but was flagged as an advisory. The car gets very little use, which I am sure ...

Typical cause of a sticking rear caliper?

Afternoon all, I have a sticking N/S rear caliper on my cab. I don't have many opportunities to work on it, and the car is stored elsewhere, so I would like to go armed with the likely things I need to fix it. Can they normally be freed off by sanding the corrosion off the piston, then pushing it ba...

My M30 suffered the same symptoms. My donor engine came from a catalyst equipped E32 so had a lambda sensor fitted. Unplugging this worked wonders as the car works happily on a default fuel map. I also had an air leak in the small elbow pipe that runs from the rocker cover to the inlet tract, just b...

The vendor's website link shows you the mount - http://www.jassperformance.com/#_interior_2_3 . The hole spacing is for an MX5, 36mm centre to centre. Sorry, but I don't have my E30 here to compare and see if it would work.

I have always mounted my GoPro Hero2 in the car, on a sunvisor replacement mount, using the standard case and using the internal microphone. The sounds is perfect, roof up or down in my opinion. Mine had a similar issue that proved to be a faulty lambda sensor in the exhaust. Unplugging the lambda and letting the engine run on the default fuel map is a quick and easy test. Puzzled by the 'does not run lumpy or misfire' comment though. Any lambda, AFM, fuel pump, temp sender etc type fault w...

I have done two trackdays in my M30'd cab, and I thought it was a lot of fun. Plenty of torque to go sideways at will, though the default handling was quite safe and understeery. I believe engine loom and ECU is the same regardless of cable throttle or EML - so don't think there is any need to buy either of these. Have a look through the sticky M30 build thread to see how to wire up the M30 engine loom into the E30 car loom.

TC will be permanently off.
