Re: Gheko's 325 light resto/project

Hey Gheko, I'm green with envy for your interior. Whoever had that car before you was feeding the leather more than his kids! I love your pic of the Range Rover, the E30 and the caravan. It's a lovely piece of social dialogue. Quite what the dialogue is saying, I'm not yet sure..but that's art for y...

Re:

Hi All, Thanks for the responses. Attitudes to old cars are strange really. To us, these cars are things of beauty. To others they are just old bits of metal that have served their use and and giving trouble and cluttering up the driveway. The guy I got the car from was just about to become a father...

Update on Rescued Touring

Hi, I was donated this 318i touring in November, or perhaps its more accurate to say I rescued it from the jaws of the crusher. It's a fine car and since I've bought it I've given it a basic service and had a good bit of work done on the body. Yesterday, for the first time I had few spare hours to w...

Re: 318i Touring - Engine swop to 325i.

Mmmm..not quite the reassurance I was looking for there Mr Daimler. I see zat is a left hooker you have zere. What are the procedures like to import to the UK from abroad? In Ireland we get ridden backwards when we import. Anything over 1.9litres and you are paying 32% of the open market value. On t...

Re: 318i Touring - Engine swop to 325i.

Thanks for all this info! I'd never have found it out in a million years on my own. I'm going to compile it all, print it out and discuss with my mechanic. Any chance you'd direct me to a few pics of your tourings? I'm dying to have a look at what mine will look like when I'm done. Also any descript...

Re: 318i Touring - Engine swop to 325i.

Hey Maggs, You speak the truth my friend. It is a project ride, I got the car for nothing and I think all in I will have a gleaming 325i touring for about €2000 (£1750) when I'm done. That will include the respray, the engine conversion and getting the interior up to scratch. You'd probably buy a ...

318i Touring - Engine swop to 325i.

Hi, My 1993 E30 318i touring is in the bodyshop being brought back to her former glory. The news from the panel beater is positive. There's very little rust apart from the bits that were readily visible so I have a very good shell on my hands. While she's been in there I've been offered, and have bo...

Re: Just been donated an E30!

Hi Magpie, Inner arches are perfect on mine, thankfully. She's out getting a good seeing to now including a respray of the bonnet and wings and all the other little spots including the boot are being sorted too. Next up is the interior. I'm on the lookout for a full leather interior preferably in bl...

Re: Just been donated an E30!

I'm going to get the cosmetics sorted out first but I'm definitely going to get six cylinders under the bonnet. Roundabouts are such fun even with the four pot wrongness. There are a couple of brothers near me who are BMW addicts, ones a panel beater, the other a mechanic. They run their operation o...

Re: Just been donated an E30!

Hi All, I took ownership today of my 93 E30 318i Touring, and I am well pleased. Having driven it the 120 miles from Bray to Dungarvan I must say that for an old girl she's doing well. She's tappety and a bit rough around the edges but nothing a couple of hundred quid shouldn't sort out. Take a look...

Re: Just been donated an E30!

That would be great for me and sad for you. I've just noticed that you did say in you're first reply that it was a touring interior. Pardon me! Writing on an iPhone with kids crawling all over you and the telly blaring obviously does have an effect on ones powers of concentration! What's gone wrong ...

Re: Just been donated an E30!

hey djk. That could be very interesting. When uou're ready to move on it let me know. The interior is from a touring, isn't it? Some of the other forum members were saying that the touring back seat is different to the saloon and coupe. I presume there are other differences too. Anyway, keep me in m...

Re: Just been donated an E30!

Hi All,

I'm delighted with the response and the good vibes. It seems to be a nice bunch of like minded people here on the forum.

I'll put up pics in her original condition, warts and all when I collect it during the week and we can take it from there.

Thanks again,

Ian

Re: Just been donated an E30!

Howya Lads, Thanks so much for the speed of the replies. I'm well impressed! The information you've given me already is very useful so thanks for that. I'll be plaguing you for advice over the coming months while I get this baby back to her former glory. I'm going to Bray in Co. Wicklow (near Dublin...

Just been donated an E30!

Hi All, I've just been donated a 1993 E30 318i Touring. It's a four pot and it's kinda tatty, but hey! You don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I think the last owner kept sheep in it my the state and smell of the interior and there are a couple of rust patches. The upside is that it's got just 108...
