this is definatly running engine speed, dont like taking it past 3-4,000rpm as the sound is bad
i can when engine is off turn the fan freely both ways with no drag, feels smooth
il try the newspaper thing tomorrow

hi guy's, why does my fan run constantly ?? sounds like a poxy range rover ! i have just got a cheap '91' 325i and all i can hear is the fan, it's robbing that lovely straight six sound ! :cry: the temp never goes anywhere near half way but its constantly on ! it may well still be the viscous fan cl...

just been and checked the original that came with the car and its only 60amp ?
need a new battery soon !
is it.. that when you disconnect the battery the ecu has to re-learn settings ?
as mine idles slightly higher with the lesser battery in it, or is that just temporary ?

780amps is high, think the one i have in there now runs about 560amps, thats not enough, the original one in the new car runs 590amps, both dont sound to good !
Murphy.. do you know the rating of your heavy duty one ?

325i battery

hey, might sound dumb but what is the right battery for a 91 325i ? i mean amps, amhs, rating, size ? put my old 318i one in and its sparked my 325 up a bit, but both seem to small for compartment ? any ideas or help would be great.

well just got home and the problem is still there,although it feels more responsive than ever before thing is an old boy had it for 16 years before i got hold of it and i imagime i drive it harder than he ever would of. im going to change the leads hopefully this wkend,iv noticed that there is anoth...

just got back from work via BMW and had a kangeroo free trip home :D the DME relay i replaced is white with 5 pins but costs £12.10 not £6 it actually has DME printed on the side i know its only one jouney home (about 12 miles) and it could happen again yet but hopefully the (genius) brian moore has...

just been out to look at my DME relay it looks ok but its a sealed unit so cant look inside what i did notice is that the fuel pump relay i replaced the other day (that was orange) the BMW replacement part is light green but it had 5 pins rather than 4 that the old orange one had but they said that ...

cheers brian just looked up the DME relay,and it has loads to do with the running of the engine ! im going to go outside now to have a little look see if it looks like its got to hot before sorry to hear that yours is up to that too nemo well annoying aint it,and as its intermitant sods law it wont ...

as you said on my last post my fuel relay was the orange one but problem is no better.

on your say so il change the DME relay, whatever that is ?

i only have two relays behind that plastic cover so it has to be the other one

il go to BMW tomorrow, but what is that DME relay ?

thats where i started first, gave it a good clean out,was a little gunked up but nothing to bad.

i know where the ecu is, got the bottom off the dash out at the mo!

iv changed the thread name but not sure what else to call it as thats what its got to be

thanks mrlee ill check the earthing and the ecu connection tomorrow weather permitted! just cant work it out, its not like i have to thrash it to make it happen, sometimes it starts stuttering just off throttle too.and it sometimes sits there revving on its own at a roundabout,to anyone else it must...

hi, i have a running problem with my 318i (88) since iv had it its started every time no probs, idle is a little low i think (600) rpm? the real problem is it has a stutter every now and then at various rpm but normally kicks back in and carry's on like normal. twice now its cut completely? normally...

cheers chris. these gutter strips,do you have to remove the chrome bit completely? and do they only run from near the mirror to the top of the window line?where there is some sort of join? do u know if u can get the rest of the chrome bits in black? cheers

thanks again, that link u sent has the shadowline kit that fingerman spoke about! it says the gutter trim is missing, i just found some black gutter strips on e30partz.com £22 each side! not sure if i could fit pop-outs on my car but they are pretty cool for e30's aren't they! ha, welded diff could ...

cheers mate, just checked out that link u found, pretty good idea then if it looks naf then i can allways take it off! i know the true enthusiast would keep the chrome but think the look im after with my car black will be best. cheers

chrome window styling removal

hi, just got my first e30 318i , clean car but think it'll look better with black surrounds. does anyone know if they can be removed and replced with black ones and if so where do i start?
