Radio aerial replacement
You'll have to forgive the utter amateurness of this question - I'm appalling with anything relating to electronics, wires and radios! My 325i has got an electric radio aerial but it's a bit bent. Is it easy to replace it with a non-electric one and if so, anyone know of a decent one? I've already b...

Re: Hex head screws, paint and an arch liner
Hiya, No worries - that PM was still sitting in my Outbox last time I looked so you probably wouldn't have even got that. Not your fault, no sweat. :-) I've had to change my enquiry slightly to: 10 x hex head screw - part no. 07119901299 (as before) £1.45 for 10 1 x CirrusBlau rattle can - I'm assum...

Any reason why this and my PM have been ignored?
Edit: My PM is still sitting in my Outbox, not sure what's happened there, but it was slightly different from the above.

Hi, Could I have prices on the following please: 10 x hex head screw - part no. 07119901299 2 x rattle cans in CirrusBlau (Cirrus Blue) 1 x cover, wheel housing, front right - part no. 51711942808 1 x gas pressurized spring - part no. 51231906286 I'm not sure on whether I'll have the arch liner (whe...

Re: Rustproofing
I realised a few days after I posted this that it's in the wrong section - Care and Detailing would have been better but I've only just found it exists! Anyone able to move this, please? The idea with engine oil would be to apply a thin layer (not a huge amount - not enough to drip anyway) with a pa...

Rustproofing
I'd like to rustproof my E30 325i properly before winter properly sets in (although today and yesterday have been solid rain!) and wondered what sort of things are worth doing or if anyone's written a good guide to it. The first thing I thought of is taking those plastic panels out from the front in...

Re: 325i exhaust: standard vs. modified
Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm assuming the Alpina system is quite rare and therefore quite expensive? I think I may have to end up just seeking out a good 2nd hand system from somewhere, mainly on cost grounds. It's a bit annoying as I'd love to have to some more power to play with. It does...

325i exhaust: standard vs. modified
Hi, I've just put my 325i in for an MoT (only bought it a couple of weeks back) and as expected, the exhaust was blowing. They tried to get hold of two new sections but couldn't, so just resorted to welding it for now. But in time, it will need replacing. I'd like to try to free up a little bit of p...

Re: Paint
Ooooo, that might be very useful. There's a couple of little chips that I want to touch in, but they're way too small to bother with sanding the whole area and spraying it, so that might be just the thing I need for that. Cheers!

OK, I've got a PartCo. up the road with a fairly decent paint mixer so I'll check with him and see what he can do for me. I hadn't seen a lot around, but I'm growing to really like it. When I first started looking for a 325i, I had a vision of my ideal car being either black or white, but now I've g...

I did a quick search but couldn't see anything, so apologies if this has been asked before and I missed it. I've just got a Cirrus blue E30, generally very nice nick but with a couple of small chips and a scratch down one wing. The lacquer has faded on that wing, too, so it'll need the whole wing do...

OK, plugged it back in and started it up. Rather than sitting at 2000rpm and gradually settling down it didn't go as high and settled down almost instantly. It seemed to run smoother as well. But it is still doing this weird labouring thing up until about 3500rpm, when it takes off. I tried accelera...

Hi Brian, Yep, that's the one. I was basically checking over the big air hose and happened to look underneath it at the engine end. OK, I've had a prod around. Looked at the plugs - nothing unusual there. I'm thinking maybe replacing the fuel filter might not be a bad idea sometime in the future. Performance of a 318i
Hi, When I first got my 318i in December, it seemed fairly nippy. But recently I've noticed it's become sluggish up until about 3500rpm, when it all of sudden takes off! It does seem a bit underpowered up until that point. On a long run up a hill, occasionally I've had it jolt and almost cut out (on...

P.S. On the subject of gaskets and leaking water past the rear lights, does anyone know the part number for those gaskets? I had a look on those sites that let you look up part numbers (complete with all the diagrams) but I couldn't actually find the part I wanted.

Thanks for the replies. I laughed @ 'horrid and council'! Great quote. I just did a search on eBay for 'e30 rear lights' and it came up with a whole load. Some of the ads mention them being M3 style which is where I got it from. However, doing a Google image search on E30 M3's reveals nothing...

These things: http://www.nicedeals.co.uk/images/e30-tail-lights-cry-sl-a.gif Are they any good? Re: Spark plugs
I had a look here:
http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/
And it says that the E30 318 carb and injection should have BP5E, but only up to '88 (mine's 1990). It says that M40's made '88 to '90 shoukd have something called ZFR5F-11 and that the M42 and the E36 M40 should have BKR6EK!

OK, thanks. I think I'll leave the 4-electrode ones in there for now, but when I get a moment I'll put either BPR6ES or BKR6EK in. I have no idea what the difference is, but I've seen people recommend both so I figure either is fine.

I did a search and I know it's come up before, but I'm still a little confused. I've got a 1990 318i which I just ordered service parts for (using the Genuine parts link on here). The plugs I got sent were something like NGK BPR6EQUP (they had that EQUP on the end, but the part number is in the car ...

Thanks for the advice, brilliant. With regards to the scuttle, it's just one end that's gone and I was thinking more of patching it anyway. This was borderline tech/chat - I chose tech! Also, sorry about the vague title but there's a few different things I'm needing help on. Firstly, my 1990 318i has a bit of a leak in the rear light seals. A friend of mine said the one he used to own had the same problem and can lead to the boot gettin...

Leaded or unleaded?
Sorry if it's been asked a million times before, but my knowledge of this era of car is pretty shallow.
I've got a 1990 318i, what's the best fuel to run it on or would it have been unleaded from the factory?
Thanks.

Hi everybody. Joined the world of E30 owners on Tuesday with a 318i bought from London. I absolutely love it.
