It seems to be a common enough problem for the manifolds on the M42 to leak there allright.I would say you would want to bolt the manifold to something when you are welding it as the heat from weling it could warp the manifold and it wont seal against the head.

Yes the lower pipe on the throttle body is basically coming from the cam cover(engine breather).Originally it is going through another funny shaped pipe below the manifold which has a metal water pipe going through it -> http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=AF92&mospid=47256&btnr=11_1272&hg...

On the throttle body the pipe to the left is not needed and be left blocked. The pipe on the bottom of the throttle body I am fairly sure the crankcase breather goes into (I will check this tommorow to be sure). The heater plate is not really needed so no need to put any pipes onto it.Infact you can ...

I have'nt fitted a M20 flywheel myself but from looking about it I have seen that most people use the 323i release bearing but some people have used the normal M20 one.The 323i one seems most popular and probably safer to use it as it is longer. You can't use the whole M20 starter as it wont engage ...

Re: E36 steering rack....

Mine is 3.2 aswell, still not fitted because im going to try to use a E36 'supply' pas pipe so that modifications are minimised. But the problem with that is that scrap yards have to drain all the fluids which usually means cutting the rubber section of the pas pipes, much quicker than doing it nic...

I'd say it would be a good idea to check the idle control valve. It could possibly be sticking. You could take it off and clean it with carburettor cleaner to see if it makes a difference.

Some seem to loose quite a bit of power and some don't loose any at all.Had my 318iS on the dyno last year when it was totally standard and it made 138bhp,so actually gained some :D .It is mostly to do with how the car is minded I suppose.

You would be better off using your origional gearbox I'd say as the E36 box has different ratios and they would be far too short.I am fairly sure the E36 has a direct 5th gear, where as the E30 one is overdrive. Looks like the throttle cable is different from looking on realoem anyway. I think your e...

I will have to see if anyone around can machine the thrust plates for me.Would I have to fit a shim then to take up the gap?
If I can't get anyone around to do them I will send them to you.Would the 30° ramps make much of a difference?

You are missing the piece the bumper bolts onto below the headlight. The bolt then goes in from the bottom side of the bumper. The bumper also slides into two plastic rails at the wings.

Your best bet would probably be to fit a shorter ratio diff if you want better acceleration.Maybe a 4.1 or 4.27.
The reason for the diff not locking up properly is the clutch plates are probably worn and would need to be replaced but you would probably be changing the diff anyway.
