There are people on here with far more expertise than me, but I had a similar problem on my 325 a few years ago and the petrol pump was goosed.

Petrol pump? I think they have some sort of diaphragm in that can perish. If you put your foot down when driving does it give a lot of lag and force you to change gear?

Nice - if its a 6 pot and you dump the BK's :D What volvo scrapper you got ? I bought a £600 V40 as a daily a couple of months ago and i quite like it :o: Mine is a £400 V70. Clearly the extra £200 you spent on yours makes all the difference. The drivers window doesn't work, neither does the centra...

Did I have to see that?
I've kicked the habit. I've sold or crushed all of the E30 scrap I had and thought I was doing quite well. There I was pootling along on the way to deliver some grub in my god awful volvo turd bridge dodger when I happened upon a nice shiny 2 door E30 of unknown spec in Calypso red on Alpinas finish...

All sorted. Its great having such an old car at times. 4.99 for a new key from a local cobblers. Happy with that. It's a good fit too. Still can't believe it snapped when I touched it. It's not in deadlock position, but I can't see a great deal of point attempting to break in as I won't be able to start the car anyway. Fortunately it's parked outside my house so no need to worry about moving it either. I'll go to the locksmiths in the morning with the bits and see if they can cut ...

My E30 is also my daily driver. In fact it's the only roadworthy vehicle I own and it gets used daily. I've just parked it, and whilst locking the door I noticed the lock was a little stiffer than usual. I took the key out and it was bent. When I touched it, the bend broke into 2 neat pieces. It's m...

Re: idle issues
Fixed it!! Turned out to be a split hose after all. It was the hose going from the intake boot to the idle control valve. I removed the whole inlet to get a better look and found a huge split on the underside of the hose. Taped it up for now and the problem has gone. I just need to get a new hose. A...

It's all back together! My E30 is also my daily driver. What comes off must go back on so I can get to work. :? This problem seems to be worse when the engine is warm. Ok I accidentally removed the TPS whilst trying to remove the TPS but actually removing the temp sensor. lol. It looked pretty clean on the outside. Thanks for the help. I didn't manage to find a picture of the blue plug and it's location. I read through the links though and went in search of it. I have driven E30's daily for around the last 10 years. The current turd is a lowly 318i auto that cost me considerably less than a grand with tax & test. It's been absolutley spot on. Maintenance wise it's had a change of oil, and 2 new tyres. It's sailed through 2 MOT's with no advisories. Really ...

My first BMW was an E28 520i that I bought for the princely sum of £65 at an auction. It gave me 2 very happy years trouble free motoring and sold for a modest profit. I've wanted another one ever since I sold it.

Re: Help and Advice buying an E30 325i please
I'd say that looks fairly tidy and but as above, check those rear arches very thoroughly. Check the carpets in the front footwells for damp too if the bottom of the wings are rusted. The whole corner can go in worst cases giving you a hole in the floor. Have a good look at the front 'jacking points'...

Ah I see.
Did you find a big difference between the M40 and the M42? I know it's a superior engine but is there much in it? I'm getting quite into 318 driving as it's working out considerably cheaper on fuel than the M20's I used to drive...
