Re: Rik178m

Update - Just received a £15 money order, I assume from Rik. I have my money about which I am pleased, but as suggested above it's a long time to take over such a small sum and I had given up hope of seeing it. I suppose this goes some way to restoring my faith in humanity.

Re: Brake pad wear sensors

Just been and bought some pads and a sensor and I note that the sensor has a connector block which presumeably is supposed to mate to the one on the car. Problem is my car has no connector block as a previous owner has cut it off (I presume) and crimped the wires together with a connector. Is there ...

Re: Central Locking again

Thanks for these, it looks like starting with a door card off job. Part of the problem may be that the door had dropped slightly on the hinge over 19 years and I cannot for the life of me seem to get it adjusted correctly which means regular slamming of the door. However if the mech is worn then tha...

Central Locking again

The central locking on my 325 Cab is playing up and having just read the wiki entry on common problems will have a play at the weekend. In the meantime can anyone confirm whether the symptoms I have are likely to be cured by checking the central locking relay etc. The drivers door lock will open the...

Are the standard E46 top mounts listed above (as opposed to the E46 M3 Cab ones) the same for an E30 Cab 325? Also where do the reinforcement plates fit into the picture in terms of the fitting sequence and what are they reinforcing? Do they replace an riginal E30 reinforcement plate?

Alex, decided to go with your last comment as I'm a bit of an OEM fanatic. Driving without front tyres on the wear limiters makes such a difference. Decision was hastened by taking a corner a little too fast at the weekend and losing the front end as opposed to the back. 8O Hopefully I should be abl...

So the sensor is not integral to the pads. If not where does it sit when fitted to be able to wear at the same rate as the pads? Also if the wiring has been rigged, what prevents the light coming on most of the time?

Brake pad wear sensors

The warning light keeps coming on and going off on the dash when I'm driving so I had a poke around at the front offside over lunch to see if I could see the problem. Minty 320i SE - Being scrapped!!!

For anyone in the Aldershot Hants area who knows Aldershot Car Spares, I popped in a lunch time and they mentioned a late 4dr 318i SE which an old bloke had brought in to scrap as he couldn't afford to run it anymore. He then said that they were going to crush it wasn't worth breaking. I tracked it ...

I've got to replace the front two tyres on my 325 Cab. It's currently fitted with 205/55/15 all round, could I fit 50/15s to the front leaving the back with the 55s so it sits marginally lower at the front? Is it worth it and what would it do to the handling? If this is a crap idea I'll just stick w...

Oil Cooler Thermostat - 325 Cab

Having raised this on the technical forum to cure a leak from the oil filter housing on a 1990 325 Cab. Brian Moore's reply was as follows: "Firstly, it's the thermostat for the oil cooler, not a PRV, and it's one of BMW's few design faults. A small kit of parts (IIRC, around £4) is required from yo...

Oil Pressure relief valve on a 325i Cab

I have now tracked down my oil leak to the oil pressure relief valve on the oil filter housing. Does anyone know what bits I need to replace this (on a 1990 325 Cab) as it seems to be the whole filter housing. Also where would be the best place to get the parts to do this?

Couldn't find a post that specifically mentions this as I suspect it is quite billy basic. Yes you can access it that way, the blower is functional when you have the soft top in place, :D Any suggestions as to fault finding if the switch illuminates but nothing happens with the blower - I assume it is linked to the micro switch which is in the horsehoe by the frame mech for the soft top?...

Not strictly related but I understand there is a blower for the rear screen on a Cab and is that how you access it? The button on my dash lights up when you press it but nothing seems to happen on the rear screen - any ideas or suggestions?

Slow Wipers
