Update - Just received a £15 money order, I assume from Rik. I have my money about which I am pleased, but as suggested above it's a long time to take over such a small sum and I had given up hope of seeing it. I suppose this goes some way to restoring my faith in humanity.
Just been and bought some pads and a sensor and I note that the sensor has a connector block which presumeably is supposed to mate to the one on the car. Problem is my car has no connector block as a previous owner has cut it off (I presume) and crimped the wires together with a connector. Is there ...
Thanks for these, it looks like starting with a door card off job. Part of the problem may be that the door had dropped slightly on the hinge over 19 years and I cannot for the life of me seem to get it adjusted correctly which means regular slamming of the door. However if the mech is worn then tha...
The central locking on my 325 Cab is playing up and having just read the wiki entry on common problems will have a play at the weekend. In the meantime can anyone confirm whether the symptoms I have are likely to be cured by checking the central locking relay etc. The drivers door lock will open the...
Did this at the weekend along with new struts and it has to be one of the easiest jobs I've done, although the top nuts on the struts were 17s I took off and the new ones from BMW were 16s - did I have a 16mm spanner  . Disappointingly, although the top mounts did need replacing as they were b...
Are the standard E46 top mounts listed above (as opposed to the E46 M3 Cab ones) the same for an E30 Cab 325? Also where do the reinforcement plates fit into the picture in terms of the fitting sequence and what are they reinforcing? Do they replace an riginal E30 reinforcement plate?

In Oct 08 I bought what was advertised as an electric E30 aerial from Rik178m for £12, when it arrived, the package contained the motor for an electric sunroof”¦”¦I drive a convertible. :x I went back to Rich by PM and he agreed to a refund if I returned the package to him at his cost. The sum of £1...
I'm with you. Discs look ok but pads are about 2/3 worn and have no recess so a set of pads are going on the shopping list and a wear sensor. Many thanks for the clear advice as ever.
Alex, decided to go with your last comment as I'm a bit of an OEM fanatic. Driving without front tyres on the wear limiters makes such a difference. Decision was hastened by taking a corner a little too fast at the weekend and losing the front end as opposed to the back. 8O Hopefully I should be abl...
So the sensor is not integral to the pads. If not where does it sit when fitted to be able to wear at the same rate as the pads? Also if the wiring has been rigged, what prevents the light coming on most of the time?
As of 1710hrs today it has now been crushed with OBC etc..................but not before I got a hirschman electric aerial and mint service folder (including all MOTs back to 1992!!). Gone but a small part will live on
The warning light keeps coming on and going off on the dash when I'm driving so I had a poke around at the front offside over lunch to see if I could see the problem. My eyes were immediatly drawn to what looks like the pad end of the sensor cable which has black electrical tape over the end and is ...
For anyone in the Aldershot Hants area who knows Aldershot Car Spares, I popped in a lunch time and they mentioned a late 4dr 318i SE which an old bloke had brought in to scrap as he couldn't afford to run it anymore. He then said that they were going to crush it wasn't worth breaking. I tracked it ...
I've got to replace the front two tyres on my 325 Cab. It's currently fitted with 205/55/15 all round, could I fit 50/15s to the front leaving the back with the 55s so it sits marginally lower at the front? Is it worth it and what would it do to the handling? If this is a crap idea I'll just stick w...
Is there anyone who is not a million miles from Fleet Hants who can assist me with adjusting the door and window position on my 325 Cab. I have had some very good advice off the forum, but having now tried three times with the door adjustment, I still have to open and close the windows every time I ...
I'm looking to change the backbox on my 325 non cat system at the weekend and would like to know what bits I should replace while I'm about it. Obviously I have the new exhaust but what about clamps, gaskets, bolts etc. In particular the join between backbox and centre appears to have an o-ring gask...
Courtesy of advice from Cotswold BMW I have now ordered the gasket kit and just need to book myself an afternoon to do the work. Thanks again for the advice, aprticualaly the link to the diagram which was spot on.
Having raised this on the technical forum to cure a leak from the oil filter housing on a 1990 325 Cab. Brian Moore's reply was as follows: "Firstly, it's the thermostat for the oil cooler, not a PRV, and it's one of BMW's few design faults. A small kit of parts (IIRC, around £4) is required from yo...
That's good to know, any chance of a shopping list or a link as this would be a good opportunity for me to try ordering some parts through the zone links?
I have now tracked down my oil leak to the oil pressure relief valve on the oil filter housing. Does anyone know what bits I need to replace this (on a 1990 325 Cab) as it seems to be the whole filter housing. Also where would be the best place to get the parts to do this?
Couldn't find a post that specifically mentions this as I suspect it is quite billy basic. The heater panel on my car appears to have a bulb out as the speed dial and sliding switchs illuminate but the temperature one doesn't. Does the panel just lever out (if so how?) and is it a straight twist and...
Yes you can access it that way, the blower is functional when you have the soft top in place, :D Any suggestions as to fault finding if the switch illuminates but nothing happens with the blower - I assume it is linked to the micro switch which is in the horsehoe by the frame mech for the soft top?...
Not strictly related but I understand there is a blower for the rear screen on a Cab and is that how you access it? The button on my dash lights up when you press it but nothing seems to happen on the rear screen - any ideas or suggestions?
Finally got the car insured and on the road this morning and while the wipers work as they should on all settings they seem to be working really slowly. If you envisage the fastest wipe being about acceptable for light rain that's about it. I've seen a couple of posts which mention the motor getting...
