Re: removing lpg
injector disable, joined by your LPG ECU until you switchover to LPG, when it will disconnect (unjoin them) to disable your injectors. If you are removing the complete LPG install (why?) then you will need to join these together.

rubber pipe goes from vaporiser to mixer via stepper, but try and get the stepper nearer to the mixer end to give better response times on the closed loop. Service indicator takes a signal from the time clock, from the speedo, from the tacho, from the temp. gauge and the milometer.Computes these to decide when each light goes out.In this way,if you drive at moderate speeds until your engine warms through, have few cold starts, keep below 4200rpm your green...

The input the the TPS is actually 5v IIRC as the ECU generates 5v for all sensors to ensure it is not affected by battery voltage rise and fall (probably an 7805 or similar). I was thinking about trying to create a small circuit that takes the idle and WOT signals from the switch and generates a 0v,...

How to fit a starter and Stalling at idle / low tickover
Hi Guys, I have been working on my E30 recently and am nearly finished but two problems still remain. Firstly the starter used to misengage regularly, upon removign it I found it only had the lower bolt installed and was loose. I have no idea how to fit the top bolt as it is inaccessable from the re...

Re: 325 battery location?
It is incredible how, not so much the weight, but position of an object makes a difference in a car. The battery tray is by the firewall normall, hence within the wheelbase, but the tray in the boot is behind the rear axle. This shift of location makes an incredible difference, many times the weight...

Hi, Two main things to check, whip the relay out from the drivers footwell and pop the cover off it to check the thermal fuse in the lower left corner. If a small metal strip has come away then it has overheated and popped its fuse. very common. Also check for power at the red / white wire as this w...

Re:
The ideal way to set up a Leonardo is to replace the stepper motor with a 'power valve' (as used in open loop LPG systems), and adjust things so that it works properly with this. When this has been achieved, just remove the power valve and fit the stepper valve back in. LPG level gauges can usually...

Re: lpg removal help
that kit is fine for a 325, you wont actually need the AEB160 which is an injector emulator. You will need a switch for the AEB175 / leonardo. The switch contains a PIC Microprocessor communicating to the leonardo over a serial link (spi at a guess) hence cant easily be bodged unfortuantly... You wi...

Re: lpg removal help
I have to say that while a good single point LPG system can be unnoticable in drivability it is, in my experiance, more prone to "running like a dog". Mine sometimes runs really nicely, and other times stalls at every set of traffic lights. I am almost 100% certain that is down to the vaporiser, but...

interestingly the ICV in the motronic spec says "fail safe". how they can say that when it is not spring return is beyond me, but yeah, it is definantly as you described : basic and open loop.

My install crossed the silencer right at the back where it is coldest, then over the swinging arm thus following th fuel and brake pipes (alot of zip ties) to the engine bay. I wanted it to be on the side that doesnt have the exhaust manifold

Re: Over-fuelling When Cold
the blue temp sensor is a NTC type thermistor, thus the hotter the engine, the lower(?) the resistance. Putting a resistor in parallel with the sensor will bias it, the ECU will think the engine is hot when it is not (or hotter anyway) (and very hot when it is hot). I am not sure of the curve for th...

Re: What does the Wide Open Throttle switch do?
On my 88 320i the ICV shuts on ignition (you can hear it buzz) and opens when cranking. It is a modulating spring return valve I believe, thus the ECU can (I think) adjust it for a smooth idle / tickover. That said the tickover on mine is awful, barely 600rpm when hot and just 800rpm when cold. On L...
