Central locking n/w door connector knackered
My CL intermitently stops working and buzzes when using key in drivers door, problem is that the doors were dead locked and the CL has gone so I cant open the passenger door! Poo, anyone know if I can send a live down the loom to open it? If so which wire on a 86-87 325i sport uk (pre-face lift)? Al...

Re: steering issues
Its not bad to do, you will have to remove the 'guibo' which means moving the rack slightly forward on one side (undo the 2 rack mounting bolts and remove the bolt on the side where the steering column goes, the bolts have nuts at the other end wich need holding with a spanner). The guibo has 2x 13m...

Re: steering issues
I would agree with Daimlerman mine had play in the 'guibo' the double universal joint just above the rack. The rubber and nylon bush were knackered but got the replacement parts from the cheltenham bmw guys for about £20 iirc With engine off (cold as youll be near the exhaust!) get a mate/pal/bird/l...

Re: Z3 Rack with no PAS
Ive been running my standard rack with the pump belt removed as the pumps whining, the steering feel isn't much better to be honest and its an arse to park! The rack has also started to knock and I reckon it might be due to the lack of fluid pressure, (like running the engine with no oil) if this is...

Mine is on 6mm allen key sliders its an ATE caliper, mines an early one. Check the caliper seal if you are wondering what may have caused the seizing mine was slightly miss seated and I guess some sh*te got in the caliper piston assembly. You could release the bleed nipple and see if it is easier to...

Hi Ive just changed my drivers side on my 325 sport as it was sticking as yours is, £50 odd quid from GSF (recon so had to give them old caliper) I also was a bit worried that on new caliper might cause problems. I have taken the car up the road with new caliper and the same pads and discs etc and i...

Sticky front caliper
Hi yall,
My OSF caliper is sticking on my M-Tech1 sport, I believe this is a fairly common problem? Anyone know what usually causes this on E30s?
I'm going to give the pad runners etc a clean and regrease hoping this will cure it, fingers crossed!
Thanks
Chris

Its an M-Tech 1 (D reg 325i sport) std height, only mod is the m3 front wishbone trailing arm bushes which are eccentric to give more castor. 325 sport with m3 trailing arm bushes, what toe angle???
I have tried to search but getting a headache!
What should I set the toe as?
Is it 2mm front to back as the 325i sport is?
Do you have to have all the weights in the car too??
Cheers

Re: Need a new ball joint. Which control arms and bushings?
I couldn't tell you, the e30 m3 ones are offset but the size of the bush could be different.
Have a look and measure the diameter of the bush and the hole for the arm if they are the same as the ones on your e30 you might be ok

Agreed Daimlerman if you arent sure what you are doing I really recommend getting someone who does to give a hand. Compressing the springs can be dangerous if not done properly think how much force they take!

Re: Need a new ball joint. Which control arms and bushings?
I used a 22mm socket (1/2" drive) and lots of extension bars so i could undo the CABs from the top better than bashing your hands to bits! But you do need about 2-3 foot! I used a club hammer to bash the old CABs out of the sub frame as my ball joint splitter (hinged one) wasn't big enough, have to ...

Got them on!
I did the ball joints and anti roll bar drop links and the front end feels amazing!
Really recommend the M3 bushes the car turns in so much better,
Pressing the ball joints in and out is not recommended though buy the whole arm(s) if you can!

Re: Need a new ball joint. Which control arms and bushings?
I bought genuine M3 bushes for my M-tech 1 (87 325i sport) and they have transformed the front end. The steering is a bit heavier but much more feel, better turn in oh and I havent got the tracking done yet (yeah I know!), I really recommend the genuine M3 ones. Re: polyurethane ball joint covers
If they have split then its probably best to change the joint as the grease will have come out and the dirt and grit will have got in which will likely ruin the ball joint in a short time.

Hi guys
What are the advantages and disadvantages of fitting the eccentric track control bushes?
If anyone could explain the principal that would be great
I have done a search but there were loads of irrelevant posts and my eyes went square!
Cheers
