This problem and this other thread of mine were part of the same issue.

Turns out it was the ECU, got an identical numbered one and replaced mine, cracked up on first turn of the key

Re: motronic ignition timing
have changd the crank sensor once and the ecu is running the fuel pump while cranking the engine, is this not a sign that the ECU is receiving pulses from the crank sensor?

I have read up on how the electronic timing works through the motronic 1.3 to try get an idea of where to start looking for the fault. so it looks like the coil gets +12v from the ignition and from...

i've just checked my crank sensor resistance as suggested on past posts looking for 540 ohms ish. it actually gave me no reading at all, basically infintiy......is this normal for a duff sensor?

any tricks for reading codes on car doesn't have check light
as title says........
my car doesn't have the check computer and therefore no check light i'm guessing.
i did try the trick where you press your accelerator 5 times but no light appeared.
is my only option a proper fault code reader in the diagnostic port?

Re:
i link 30 to both 87's and then re attached the bypass wire from the battery +ve to the coil. as soon as i did this the clicking near the injectors was quite fast i think it was the evaporative purge valve but i maybe wrong. also the blue and orange relays were still activating intermittently. still...

connected the wire like you said. ignition lights were on without the key in, guess thats the bypass. the clicking was still there before i started cranking it. when i cranked it, it did feel like it was gonna fire but just couldn't get there.

the main relay(white one) just started clicking constantly today, but the fuel pump relay has been clicking for a few weeks. i haven't moved any relays around. only thing i've done today was to get to the blower behind the firewall. i'm not sure if this may have disturbed something??

yep def charged. was running only few days ago but was stalling alot at junctions. back then it was only the fuel pump relay that kept clicking. the main white relay problem only started today.....i think. could it be the ECU?

Re: need help with a strange electrical problem...please!!
just had a look at the starter all wires connected. also had a look at a wiring diagram and the white one is the main relay and the blue one the fuel pump relay. still clueless as to why they are constantly clicking
