Re: Number 10 fuse keeps blowing
Fuse 10 also operates the reversing lights... I would have the decorative gaiter around the gearlever up and un-plug the wire that comes up from the reverse light switch first.... The part of the harness that runs to the gearbox switch can rub on the propshaft, causing it to short and blow the fuse....

Number 10 fuse keeps blowing
A while back I was driving along when all the dials stopped working (except speedo). When I turned the engine off it wouldn't re-start (not even turn over). I had a quick check of the fuses and they looked ok, so I thought it must be the ignition switch. I fitted a new BMW ignition switch but that d...

Re: noisy tappets on 325
The M20 engine has mechanical tappets rather than hydraulic ones, so if they haven't been adjusted in a while they may be noisy.
My guess is checking the valve clearance and adjusting if necessary should solve the problem. Valve clearance should be set to 0.25mm with the engine cold iirc.

Front indicator wiring
A month or so back i hit the front end of my car in the centre of the front, such that the sides of the bumper popped out of their clips and forward by about a foot. Everything is now back together, but the front indicators don't work. The other indicators still work, there are no fuses blown, and i...

Re: Thermostat housing
I don't think I can say more than has already been said really. I'm new to the forum but if all sellers were this good, forums would be a better place.

Dan.

Re: Temp gauge not working properly
Brown sensor from GSF @ £7.64 inc vat may be worth ding the blue sensor aswell priced @ about £8.00 Are the gsf ones ok? I come from a VW background, and the gsf temp sensors for VWs are known for being not as good as the ones from VW. If a sensor from BMW is not that much more I'd prefer to get ge...

Re: Temp gauge not working properly
Will replacing the sensor help, or is it more likely to be a fault with the connector/wiring?
If shorting the connector to earth is just to get around a broken temp sensor, I'd rather replace the sensor (assuming they're not hideously expensive).

Temp gauge not working properly
I had a problem with my rev counter and temp gauge not working at all. The batteries in the service indicator unit were corroded, so I replaced the front half of the instrument cluster that holds the SI unit, and now the rev counter works fine, as does the fuel economy gauge, but the temp gauge just...

Re: valve clearance
The Haynes manual says you're supposed to adjust the clearances in firing order which I think is 1-5-3-6-2-4 (thats from memory though), and that you should rotate the crank 120 degrees between doing each cylinder. Not sure if this makes a difference, but if you've done them all without moving the c...
