Re: Rust! (pics) leaks... and advice?
Not exactly the news I had been wanting to hear but glad to have heard it now! To be honest I wouldn't be very confident in having to replace the tail end myself, even if I found a decent shell for it and had the time to do it I wouldn't physically have the space/equipment to do it for quite some wh...

Rust! (pics) leaks... and advice?
I tore out the carpet in the boot ('90 320i saloon) a while ago after noticing a lot of condensation in the boot only to find inches of water in the rear pockets behind the wheels, rust surrounding the rear lights and all under the rim of the boot at the back. At the time I didn't do much to it, bit...

Re: flat battery and found water in my boot ???
Boot rubber seal, rear lights rubber seal, check the aerial to make sure its all sealed up correctly (run your finger on the inside where the aerial is) or failing that check the drainage pipes from the sunroof that run to the boot.

Re: e30 blower heater motor problam again????
Only on speed 4 would indicate its a problem with the heater motor itself and not the resistor... the fan is run off the resistor on speeds 1-3, plenty of heater motors around. Try a scrappy, or if in more of a hurry I got one from e30partz.com which works grand - probably a little on the expensive ...

Re: Which HT leads go where on distributor cap??
This page might help you figure it out: http://e30world.com/ignition/BMW-E30-distributor-cap-rotor-change In particular: "You can always check for correct installation since the ignition firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4 and terminals on the distributor cap have a label. That means that spark plug wire fr...

Re: Heater motor
Panic over, got my hands on a voltage tester with a light on it for pittance in the local motor factors and narrowed it down to a blown fuse. Fuse replaced and now I have glorious heat!! :D I wasn't even cold but took it out for a spin with the heat on full blast cause I missed it so much! Now to so...

Heater motor
Hi Guys, Had a post here a while ago about my heater blower motor not working, so I sourced a replacement motor and resistor from www.e30partz.com and replaced the two of them - and now it still doesnt work  Could it be that I got dud parts or could the problem lie elsewhere? Bit of background,...

Re: Heater fan/blower suddenly stopped
*Sigh* I spoke WAY too soon. The day after I first "fixed" it it stopped working again. It randomly came on later that day though after some sputtering about but this was short lived as the next day it was gone again and its been gone since. Took the motor out completely there and gave it a good cle...

Re: Heater fan/blower suddenly stopped
It's not too bad actually - theres 4 small hexagonal screws that need to be removed from the firewall just under the windshield right in the centre, you will probably need to shift/unclip some wires from the front of it (mine were cable tied to it, could have just been mine though as someone had bee...

Re: Heater fan/blower suddenly stopped
Quick update - went in and had a bash at the heater motor, turns out it was just stuck. Will get back to it take it out and grease it up another day to keep it going but for now it kind of works, haha. It won't turn on to 1 from off but it goes from off to 2,3 or 4 and from there once it has started...

I don't think its the switch - when I turn the switch from off to number 4 I can see the headlights/dash lights dimming as if power is being moved elsewhere so I think its the fan. Been searching and found a few threads with similar problems, going to try get in and look at the fan and see if its bl...

Before you take it apart, push it in with a little force and rotate the heater dial - the bulb in mine came loose and a little bit of a fiddle had it back in place without the need to take out the clock or anything like that.

Hi Guys, Wondering if you have any ideas on this.. When I try start up my 320i in the mornings lately (since I left it sitting while I was away last weekend) it won't start first time. Probably not! Only have the car 2/3 months so still trying to come to grips with all the little nuances of the e30. Reading here (http://e30world.com/Maintenance/BMW-E30-common-problems) that this is a common enough problem - any special brake fluid needed? Will check this soon as I get home from wo...

Woke up this morning and the car wouldn't go into gear at all. Clutch fully pressed it just would not go into R, 1st, 2nd or 3rd - could struggle it into 4th and 5th but that was no good to me. They have just introduced this over here in Ireland so that tax is based on C02 emissions of your car instead of on engine size - it is only affecting new cars or cars imported after July 1st 2008 though so old cars already in the country are not affected. Tax is €600 a year for the 320i i'm drivi...
