Hi all.. After a few E30s (and a few more to break).. I decided to move on.. that yielded my E46 330i vert: http://tk.digiserv.net/tmp/CU04UPG/DSC_4834.jpg We also had a small project too: http://tk.digiserv.net/tmp/mini/casper/20100411-DSC_1832.jpg that was unfortunately written off for us on the w...

Re: HID issues? and where from?

Hi fella.. IIRC, you need to disconnect the resistor plugs on the inside of the inner N/S front wing to prevent strobing of the HIDs, but they don't stop the sidelights working in a literal sense. If you are looking for ballasts, are you running a 35W system? If so, I have 2 here you can have for a ...

Re: H1 HID conversion kits for smileys... Any recommendation

I've had both.. both at 6000K. The difference is night and say, so to speak. I thought the 35W burners were good, but the 50W are far superior. I never used main beam since installing them. My 35W kit came from somewhere in Asia via ebay.. my 50W kit came from HIDS Direct . Fitting is easy.. pretty ...

Re: speedo dead

Possibly. Check the connection plug in the diff. This has a tendency to corrode and screw things up.

You can replace the plug (and recommended length of ~12" of wire) from a headlight plug which you can probably source relatively easily.

How many people genuinely enjoy their job? Yup. Mine started out as a hobby that people wanted to pay me for 8 or 9 years ago. Like any job, some times it can get stressful (deadlines tighter than a nun on a sunday, getting code working in Internet Exploder, etc) but all in all, very happy :) Regar...

Hi all.. Wanted to experiment with some night shots. My other half doesn't have a problem.. and quite likes driving my touring. Her real obsession are Minis (not the new tat) but I think if we weren't going to get a classic Mini as a project to work on together sometime this year, she'd be happy to work on an E30 project instead :)

[ snip ] the clear laquer was a must i think - the finish before it looked kind of matt like on the photo and it looked weird. the laquer brings it closer to rest of the cluster making it look more factory and smooth/glossy Depends how you spray it.. Re: Clutch bearing gone?

Mine went a few months ago.. started as a rumble.. then a high-pitched squeal... the bearing was taken out in multiple pieces (not by choice).

Took a few hours to replace mine.

Never (IMO) replace just one part of the clutch.. always do the kit (3 parts).

Have you made sure (by tightening anyway) that the nut is actually tight? My gauge was flickering about a while ago. I seemed to get nothing on it when I tried to tighten it with a small ratchet, but must have as it's not messed me about since. Just a thought :)
