Re: Strange 'wind whistling' noise from back of car...
Car is an auto, don't think they have pinion bearings and car has been checked over thoroughly by mechanic, meant to be in rude health (certainly runs very well).
Yes, I'm also suspecting a wheel bearing by eliminating other possibilities..,

Re: Strange 'wind whistling' noise from back of car...
Old thread but the noise is still there...! Not the exhaust, no rot under car (car as a whole is very rust free) and nothing obviously wrong?! Baffling. Car is a 2 door coupe by the way and it sounds like it's coming from the right rear corner. The way I would describe the noise is if anyone remembe...

When does fuel light come on?
I chickened out today and filled up my car because the needle was getting pretty low and I didnt see the fuel light. I assumed the light must be faulty as it was very near to the lowest mark. Turns out it was 45litres to fill the tank. If I'm right a 1990 316i has a 55 litre tank so I still had 10 i...

Steering wheel sizes
Found this useful guide to steering wheels available in the E30. But does anyone know if there is a difference in size between the standard 4 spoker and the 3 spoke Sport and Mtech 1 wheels? Are they all 385mm? (apart from the mentioned 370mm option) http://www.rtsauto.com/e30-steering-wheel-options/

Inexpensive wheel upgrades
Guys, I'm looking for a wheel upgrade (presently running skinny steels with hubcaps and 175/70 14'' tyres). I'm less concerned with cosmetics than having more rubber (ie grip) on the tarmac. Can I go up to 16'' for example easily? I know the offset is 4x100, can anyone recommend some reasonably pric...

Re: Strange 'wind whistling' noise from back of car...
No rust I can see anywhere, car is surprisingly rot-free including arches. One garage I took it to was no help, they 'thought' it was the exhaust but it definitely is not. What a puzzle...

Re: Strange 'wind whistling' noise from back of car...
Hmmmmmmmmmm I have an aerial and a towbar. The aerial only stands semi-erect
about six inches but the Towbar could be a suspect. It's annoying!

Strange 'wind whistling' noise from back of car...
I thought it may have been a blowing exhaust but it looks like it's something else. It only happens above 20mph and increases with speed. Touching the brakes makes no difference, so can rule out pads. It almost sounds like wind noise from a door seal or something but it's not that. Very confusing..a...

Wipers only work at fastest speed..
Reading previous threads here, it could be a new wiper motor or just repacking the existing one with new grease? However I asked someone yesterday who insisted it's probably the wiper relay..?
Wipers work on the fastest setting, do not work at all on any of the others.
Any advice appreciated.

Any E30 Specialists in East London/North East London/Essex
Need to get a few jobs sorted, looks like I will have an exhaust thanks to a member on here, but still have wipers that only work on high speed and a speedometer that only works sometimes. I guess these are issues that people familiar with E30's have seen many times so wondering if anyone knows of g...

Rear speakers recommendation to fit 2 door 316?
Hi, hope someone can help. I have just bought a 316 2 Door (1990). I've upgraded the front speakers and head unit and put tweeters on the dash corners, but the speakers I wanted to put on the rear shelf are way too big and cannot be mounted on the shelf because of the two rods running on the undersi...
